This game rocks.

Interface question though - what does it mean when there is a bandage stuck to a level on the level select screen? I have one on level 4 even though I have the bandage in that stage. I also have six other bandages but no other stage has an indicator.

I got the bandage in levels 20 and 7, but every time I reload the stages it is still sitting there. But it is not still there in level 4...

The game is still giving me credit for 7 bandages, but I'm not sure if I should be credited for more than that.

OK, I went back to level 7. This time I got the bandage and an A+ on the stage. Now it says I have 8 bandages.

The bandage within the stage is still visible and there is still no indicator on the title screen, lol. Is this borked?


I'm just gonna record levels where I couldn't get the bandage here until it is patched.

I am playing through Dark World 1 now. I have found that if I hit B to return to menu on a stage where I got the bandage, I get the proper indicator on the world map. I guess hitting A to proceed to the next stage prevents it from appearing?

It also reads 20/20 for bandages even though I missed one in DW14 and I still have 4 or 5 levels left. Weird.

edit: The developers say this game is 500 megs due to audio, which is going to be the main obstacle compressing it to the 40mb limit on wiiware. To those who have played it, does  like every stage have its own special music or something?

sux my balls Magus, game is incredible. Soooooo addictive, so much challenge, so much bang for your buck.

And yeah, no idea what the bandage thing on the level means. I got like 4 bandages but cant figure out why only one stage has the bandage icon on it.

This year has been so good for downloadable games.

This game is balls out platforming greatness, I can tell after just the first 'world.' I can only imagine what lies in store for me.

Two things really take it to platforming bliss and make it something all new:

1st. Levels start out really small and just build, but the music doesn't start over every level or every time you die. Instead it just keeps going, growing and intensifying. And when you die there's no useless screen or anything, nope it just throws you right back in there like an FPS or something.

2nd, and most important. It makes you appreciate your 'stupid' deaths. In platformers back to the original Super Mario Bros, we've laughed at our friends as they gear up to make this awesome jump only to just run off the cliff harmlessly. It's hilarious, and when it happens to the gamer it's infuriating!

Well Super Meat Boy records all your deaths and then plays them back on top of each other. I did not anticipate how great that would be. Not only graphically while you are playing the world, seeing all your mistakes in blood all in front of you. But the replay, you can have a good laugh at the time you jumped right into the saw right off the bat. Or you can cringe at how you f'ed up right at the end, as two Meat Boys fight for the princess, with only one to make it!

The sense of humor is right up my alley too.

Fantastic game, could end up being my favorite XBLA game to date (although admittedly that isn't saying a lot.) If it does though, it would be a surprise to me personally as Bionic Commando was one of my top 5 NES games growing up. To put Super Meat Boy in that class already is as high an honor I can give it.

Well, it looks like the bandage glitch is fixed. It's too bad too because it looks like it would have let me grind out tons of freebie bandages on easy levels. I am replaying World 1 and I am getting bandage marks on all the levels of the world map. My total bandage tracker is incrementing up for each discovery though even though I've already gotten them. I'm up to 26/20 now lol.

If I had cheesed this yesterday I could have unlocked all the characters. Oh well.

Glitch is not fixed, I just double-dipped bandage 2-20.

Try to avoid quitting out of a map right after you beat a level. Move onto the next. Then when you are done playing, back out to the map screen and see if you got all the bandages you expect. Keep replaying levels that don't have bandage marks (but should) without returning to the title screen.

Just make sure you back all the way out to the main menu and then return to dash to make sure the game saves. Peoplea re saying that missing bandage indicators mean the game isn't saving, but I have not lost any progress.

Got a lot of bandages last night, ended up getting credit for 3.

Kinda sucks.

I did have the 7th fastest time on one of the first levels (tied for 1034 or something lol) after you throw out all the zeros.

But hopefully they figure out the saving/bandages part.  It would be frustrating putting a couple of hours into that game to get a good time/A+/bandages and not have it save.

I'm up to the last level and I haven't lost any saves.

This level is kind of BS though. I went into it with 1200 or so deaths and now I've cleared 1600 and I still haven't beaten it. The jumping is fine once you figure out the path, but there is one part that requires you to make a perfect hop to squeak between 3 blades that is nearly impossible to perfect. So you go through 10-15 seconds of now-familiar platforming just to roll the dice on that again. It sucks.

The last world is the only one that requires you to beat all levels to confront the boss. I did the other levels in under 10 deaths each.

(Incomplete) bandage/warp guide.  My biggest complaint against the game is that there is nothing to indicate a level has a bandage or warp zone so this guide is pretty fucking helpful.

Since I'm done with Vanquish, I figured I'd play some of this. I just finished up all of the light zone and most of world 1's dark zone. Fun game, but I'm still not sure how I feel about these type of platformers. They give you infinite lives because the game isn't really balanced to be beaten on a set number of lives, you just have to die over and over until you memorize when to hit the button and for how long to get past death trap x. Eh, I dunno. Still better than any other platformer i've played this gen though.

I'm up to 1127 deaths already with only 40% total progress, so I guess i still have lots more dying to do.

Just got A+ on all the light levels. The last one was pretty tough. The first time I did it, it took me 48 seconds (45 is the cut off for A+). Had to replay it and wound up with a 44.96 second run. Talk about close. :lol

Off to the dark world tomorrow I guess. 100% shouldn't be too far off since you don't need to A+ the dark world stages I believe.

This game is crack. I played non stop last night until about 4 AM to beat the game in the light world. 6-5 is easily the hardest light world stage in the main game. I haven't raged that many times because of a game in years. I'm gonna go for some bandaids and try to get the ending for the dark world today. I doubt I'll be able to beat every stage though.

Btw, the world you unlock after beating the game and Teh Internets? Torture. Pure torture. Still though, it's the most fun I've had with a platformer this gen.

I'd say that's the hardest light stage. But just wait until you get to The Kid's warp zone. Those stages are pure FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUU. I just unlocked him and I'm glad that crap is behind me.

Vanquish and Meat Boy back to back is no good for my blood pressure.

Yeah, that's 6-5, unless you're talking about the boss stage. I think I died more on 6-5 than the rest of the game combined.

Cotton Alley is a bitch, period. I tried the first stage after beating the game and gave up after like 20 tries. I couldn't take anymore for the night.

Love this game. Best platformer since the SNES era. It's right up there with Trials HD, SSF2THDR, and Bionic Commando as one of my favorite XBLA games. Game's a 10/10, 5 stars, A+, S-rank, god tier, etc.
