Today I had 5 tacos.  So damn good and now I'm so damn sleepy.

Yeah, I was all excited for it because folks make it out to be a big deal and it's just an okay sandwich.

In Japan right now McDonald's is having an "iCon Chicken" sandwich campaign. They had a German Sausage McChicken sandwich. It was a slice of ham-like sausage, sauerkraut, and a slice of cheese in addition to the breaded chicken. Any other place in the world, that'd be a great sandwich. At McD's, it's just another mcsandwich. They're incapable of making anything with any personality.

Contrast that with MOS Burger, which has limited-time things like Nan Tacos or Geki-Kara Chicken Burger -- things which cause customers to openly weep when they're once again removed from the menu.

My wife and I loved the Nan Tacos at MOS Burger... we make them all the time at home.

So I didn't eat dinner Wednesday night because I was feeling sick.  So yesterday afternoon around 3 we went to Fajita Flats and I ordered an appetizer of chips and queso. mmmm  well it was a gigantic bowl of cheese and it took a while for them to bring my food.  so I ate two baskets of chips with it (and the cheese still wasn't done) while my wife only ate a couple of chips out of it.  then i get my plate which was a taco, burrito and an enchilada with rice and beans.  I was still full this morning.  It was so worth it though.

Last night I went to Barbacoa, a legendary Brazilian churassco place in Tokyo. Pretty much any foreigner who comes to town will know what I'm talking about - we took the Gundams there. Here's a write-up I found on it, just to give you an idea of the succulent treats on offer:

Quote
The first offerings brought from the kitchen were chicken legs, and sausages. Chicken wasn't going to cut it that evening, so I went with the sausages. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, with the proper amount of hot spice to require another caipirinha.

And then, the different meats started coming at warp speed.

Pepper steak: Beautiful pepper crust, beautiful medium-rare coloring, great texture, very tender, and very flavorful.

Sirloin Steak: Probably the only "miss" of the evening. Though it is cooked between well-rare, and rare-medium-rare, and had a great flavor, it was just a tough little bugger to chew.

Hump Steak: Stop giggling, everybody! This is taken off of the top hump of the critter. And, this night, it was amazing! Beautiful, brown and crispy on the outside, and a 1/4 inch into the slice, beautifully medium-rare. Extremely tender, juicy, and just beefalicious. Small pieces of rock salt, left on the outside, dictated another caipirinha.

Ribs: Flintstone-esque ribs, brought to the table, from which they slice the meat. This has always been one of the great disappointments at Barbacoa. But, this evening, it was very, very good. Wonderfully tender, moist, lots of ribbish flavor. Many times, it is a bit tough, and dry.

Rib Steak: Simply put, chunks of prime rib. Three different pieces on the skewers, each cooked to a different doneness, gradianting from rare, to a well-medium-rare. I went for the rare, which was truly cool in the center. There is no horseradish sauce served, but this didn't need it! The flavor of this cut by itself held up admirably.

Garlic Steak: Magnificant! Totally tender, medium-rare, and, even though it is coated with garlic bits, the garlic enhances, as opposed to overwhelming, the beef. Time for another caipirinha.

During the meal, the waiters also bring around skewers of roasted potatoes, onions, and baked pineapple. Although I didn't partake this time, (hey, none of them were beef) my past experiences with these dishes is very positive. Especially the pineapple.

For the record, the ribs last night were PRIMO. We agreed it was by far the best thing of the night. Perfect Paleo eating too - I had nothing but meat and good veggies.

I feel tip-top after Barbacoa, so long as I resist the cheese bread and other egregiously carby food. Who wants that stuff when there is so much quality meat around anyway. Planning on another trip next weekend!

My dad's a butcher.   It's never been difficult for my family to get fresh meat.  :teehee

Now vegetables on the other hand....Tell my family we're having salad for dinner and it's like I'm speaking a different language.  It does get very tiring having that much protein (obviously not very healthy either).   :-\

Everything is fine in moderation but the human body needs a balanced diet.  I was specifically referring to my family's habit of having meals that roughly consists of 75-80% meat.

My family reminds me of the family in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

That chicken enchilada GSB is pretty good!  I always feel like those kinds of items are way too expensive, though.  Especially when I can get one of the $2 meal deals (chicken burrito, Doritos, and medium drink), add another item off the $1 menu, and still come out a few cents cheaper.

Also, they have added some new sauce packet flavors - fire-roasted salsa and tomatillo.  They're both decent!
