i mean i understand i live in the midwest so my chances of finding stores with something besides the latest hillbillywear are slim, but even on the internets everything is SO UG.  oh yes another overpriced flanel!  wow some $60 plain sweaters that is awesome!  i've been wearing a bunch of thermals under my t-shirts cuz i can't find anything good to get.  i hate you fashion industry for failing to produce clothes that would enhance my beautiful face and perfect physique.

You can find some good stuff at H&M if you dig through all the crap, but you get what you pay for (their quality isn't the best). I typically shop at Banana Repubilc, Express, American Apparel, Macy's and Target. I'm not rich enough to shop at ubran hipster design stores here in Seattle more than once or twice a year at the most. The clothes are awesome, but I can't justify $125 limited print run sweaters when I have a $3,000/month mortgage to pay.

That's the one of the reasons that high fashion exists. They do sell these items to the rich and chic, but the big concepts from these pieces are toned down and made more accessible for the rest of us.

My wife is a big fan of high fashion. She told me all about it after I totally made fun of a fashion show once.

Apparently what I wear is proper for casual fridays or something.  I wear collared shirts (someone compared it to a rugby shirt before) and khakis because they're comfortable.  If I cared more about fashion, I'd wear a vest. Or a burlap sack.

I wear a t-shirt, hoodie and cargo shorts to work almost every day, even through a good portion of winter. Everyone on my floor is casually dressed, though in the building's other fifteen floors the men all wear suits and the women wear those OL uniforms. I'm thankful that I can get away with slacker clothes in a professional office environment in Japan.
