I wanted to get excited about this so I popped in my copy of GT4 in the PS3 and set it to 1080i mode to get hyphy... Unfortunately it was just so boring. I know I'm going to wind up buying this game but I'm gonna feel like a chump after it just sits and collects dust.

Rrrrghh...I might get it if there are any nice offers involving gift cards or preorder bonuses or some shiz, can someone help a brother out

Amazon has a $10 gift card but that's pretty boring.

There should be some good sales during xmas.  It's probably arriving too late for BF sales this week.

How much is this going to sell? 500k? 1 million?

Yeah, in one day.

I'd say ~10mln units sold in its lifetime.

The franchise has sold over 55mln units so far. It's still one of the biggest franchises around.

Another thing I read on QT3, Eye Camera head tracking only works in races where you don't have a pit stop.

So it's going to top the NPD then? Do people still care about this franchise?

1) No, COD came out this month.

2) The demo for GT5 sold more copies than all Forza games combined. So there's that.

The game is going to get ripped to shreds for sure.  It's simply too big with too many features and too much bullshit pr over the years of development.

It may do 30 things right, but there will be 20 things it does wrong.
Should still be enough enjoyment for $40-50, but it will definitely have annoyances.

I'm guessing it scores around 8.5-9 at most of the sites.

That shot doesn't accurately portray how GT5 actually looks. The person that took that shot clearly turned down the resolution, AA, world detail, and...OH WAIT

It actually doesn't.

If you've played GT5P you know how GT5 looks, it's not like it's going to be a big surprise to anyone.  GT never captures well because the engine is ridiculously jaggy.  In motion with 4x AA @ 720p or no AA 1080p it looks pretty clean.  Plus that picture in particular is just one of the troll pictures focusing on the 2d trees that are in GT.

The ground textures are pretty nice and the cars look good; the trees suck as does grass outside of the main track.  Geometry just depends on the track.  Some are empty, some are good like the cities.

True true.It was a long time ago,but someone posted some PGR3 pics somewhere(gaf probably),complaints erupted...
And then it turned out that those were real-life pics, apparently reality has weak textures and crappy lighting  :lol

The more I look, watch game screenshots, videos the more faults i can see.Sometimes I feel sorry for artists and devs, they must be praying that nobody notices anything.

This whole game is a fucking joke. Before we saw actual in-game screenshots, the argument was that GT is boring as fuck, and the fans came back with "At least it looks pretty!". Now we have actual in-game screenshots and the game looks like flaming asshole, and the damage control has reached new heights of idiocy.

None of this would really matter if they didn't spend five whole years developing the game to make it, in the words of the developers, "perfect". That's one skewed idea of perfection.

The game looks good, just nowhere near photomode shots.  It'll be about the same visually quality as Forza 3 during gameplay with F3 having better track graphics and GT5 having better car graphics.

That's how you market a game

I remember people at GAF proclaiming they bought a PS3 for the Blu-Ray player.  Sony is just catering to their audience who hates interactivity.  :bow2

If they can import PS2 models, they can do that with PSP too, some people claim that PSP is like PS2 portable,so why not, developers always make a "little" higher quality models anyway...it makes sense from a business standpoint i guess

I don't doubt that this will be a good game for racing fans, but some decisions really make me lol

Of course 200 cars are enough, but you must understand that some people are fickle. They will bitch about anything and everything if given the chance.
