Creating Gran Turismo TV system files... Please wait.

jesus christ, if I knew simply navigating the menu was going to take FIVE MINUTES i wouldn't have picked this selection. This is after an hour install, mind you. Back to playing Medal of Honor on the Xbox while this manages to unfuck itself

Gran Turismo 5 is a masterpiece.

It's a shame it's exclusive to Ps3, I feel the Xbox could use a good game right about now.

Okay, apparently I'm having hellish load times, including lethargic navigation inside the MAIN MENU, because I did not opt to do the SECONDARY FIFTY-MINUTE INSTALL.

Hoiy. Fucking. Shit.

Again, back to Medal of Honor.

1) No chance. The game has everything I wanted it to have. It would be like getting upset at a game for doing everything right.

2) It has Go-karts.

3) Go-karts.

4) Of course. In fact, if I were to rate the racers I've played this gen, GT5: Prologue would actually be 2nd and not 1st.

Can you guess which racer is in 1st place

After installing both disks, Forza's loading was just bearable.

That's what you're telling yourself.
Well not literally but yes that is my subjective opinion on the load times.  It seems all racing games this generation (PGR, Codemasters games, etc) have lengthy load times though.  You could instantly restart a race whenever you want though so I know that makes your purple starfish clench har-de-har-har.

Good FM3 and GT5 comparison article:
http://www.lensoftruth.com/?p=24784

Basically other than frame tearing, there's really no major difference between the two games graphics.

http://kotaku.com/5698869/gt5-online-woes-screw-up-your-singleplayer-games-too

Quote
If you're trying to play Gran Turismo 5 at the moment and wondering why everything is stalling and running so slowly - even in your singleplayer games - you can thank "extreme online traffic congestion".

...

While the "extreme online traffic congestion" lasts, users are being warned that even such basic things as moving through the game's menus can result in delays of "several minutes", as GT5 connects online not just to race against other people, but also "when starting the game and during the various screen displays in GT Mode".

In an attempt to "temporarily alleviate" the problem, Sony has cut off all user access to the viewing of logs, and in many cases changes to user profiles and changes to friends lists as well.

While Sony work to fix this problem, users are being told to disconnect their PlayStation 3s from their network and play in offline mode.

"As far as features, GT5 is on top too and I don't think that can really be argued (weather, course marker (rudimentary as it is), B-spec, the in-depth photo mode (photo locations), the online aspect (which to be fair isn't working very well at the moment but assuming it clears up the work is there), rally, nascar."

Yeah, the online isn't working right now, but when they fix it, there's like totally an online mode in there.

triple a shouldn't you be playing this amazing game instead of making a career out of defending it on a message board

I think, during this thread, I've realized that Triple A isn't actually even a card-holding SDF member. He's almost certainly a joke character. No-one, no-one could put this much energy into blindly, blithely, endlessly, ineffectively, sarcastically, antagonistically defending a game which they haven't even played. I feel like I've missed the joke for too long; nobody could be that stupid, not even Methodis.

For the sake of humanity I hope so... I feel it's a lost cause though.

If you like Forza , you should like GT and vice versa. There's somethings better on one than the other, but at the end of the day you are either a racing sim fan or you aren't - anyone saying either of these game is "Sh!t" whilst the other is "ZOMG amazing!" is taking out of their big cavernous ar$es.

Speaking the truth. There's so much fud in this thread.

won this from subway and decided to try it out.

:lol  this is so bad.  I guess there are more than enough car enthusiasts out there to support it, but every time I try out a realistic racing/driving sim, I'm shocked again by how fucking boring these games are.  Seriously, driving sim gameplay is the worst shit ever. I'd rather play a bottom of the barrel FPS.  That's not to say the game part is objectively bad...I mean, people like all kinds of shit that's terrible like shitty sitcoms, reality shows, summer blockbuster movies, Call of Duty, McDonalds, etc.

But the loading is just...incredible.  I installed 8gb, then it kept flashing mini "installing" screens all while I was navigating the menus.  It's still a laggy, excruciating mess just to get to a point where you can actually play a track.  I especially like how you get to a new menu and you get about 5 seconds of stealth loading before you can actually move the cursor.  Going to the garage and trying to look at cars is a whole other level of shit.  If it took like 5 minutes just to select my very first car thanks to all the loading, I can't imagine navigating that shit when I have all the cars unlocked.  Then the loading times before the races themselves are about 30 seconds long, giving you enough time to reflect on how the game is making it an incredible pain in the ass just to play it.

This is the style over substance shit that I hate.  How fucking hard is it to come up with a stylish, but simple and snappy, interface?  I may have given the gameplay more of a chance if I could quickly switch between races and modes, to try a wide variety of things.  Instead, I get some fucking elevator jazz music and a menu that plays hard-to-get, as if the game couldn't give less of a shit about my presence :lol

and the graphics themselves are nothing to write home about.  The shadows remind me of the forest level in DMC4--they're so jaggy and weird that the game would probably look better without them.  The tracks are sparse with lots of low res textures.  The cars are sort of jaggy...I'm not sure why a game with practically nothing going graphics-wise would have issues with tearing and jagginess.  Meanwhile, a game like Vanquish is fucking insane with all kinds of crazy shit happening on screen at once and in an incredible amount of detail, yet I have to actively search to find blemishes/low res textures.

what a turd.

I'm gonna play some Pac-Man to wash the taste out of my mouth.
