I'm going to play the shit out of Hot Pursuit until

1.) My wheel arrives
2.) This game unfucks itself

You wanna trade cars  :-* ?

ain't got shit yet, not bothering until later...read above post

You haven't unlocked anything but you're quitting?

Have fun with NFS.

Perhaps you missed the part where I stated I wouldn't be playing GT5 until 1.) my wheel arrived and 2.) the game unfucked itself

I've played GT5 for a few hours and I've already unlocked cars. How is it that you have played it for longer than I have and haven't unlocked anything?

It's just strange that's all.

Putting him on ignore was the first thing I did after my account was approved, even before my very first post.

It was suggested in the registration form, right above the "I am 13 y/o" checkbox.

Oh man, the player must've left his car in sunlight for too long. Don't people know GT5 has real-time UV radiation? Thanks to the power of Cell, leaving your car in direct sunlight will cause the exterior to warp and melt. Of course, this feature is only unlocked at level 15.

Somebody on gaf posted some decent comparison shots.

photomode models:
http://i.imgur.com/1mDyt.jpg

gameplay models:
http://i.imgur.com/uGxnJ.jpg

Both games use higher poly meshes for the photomode/menu models while the poly count for the meshes that are used during gameplay and replays are a fraction of that.  I think both games basically look identical.

Since this entire thread is a tribute to fanboyism on either side then yes. The entire thread is some IGN shit. Might as well fully go there then.

Then you have not played both games. Either that or you're playing in standard definition, because the premium models in GT5 look an entire generation ahead of anything on both Ps3 and 360.

In fact, it is only the shadow resolution (on the cars) and effect pixelation that remind you that you're playing on limited hardware. But to be fair to GT, there are still PC games that struggle like fuck with effects cranked up - so yeah.

Despite being released to a metascore of 86 and selling 1.8 million copies worldwide in just two days (to put that in perspective, Halo Reach still hasn’t sold that much in EMEAA countries), Gran Turismo 5 has suffered a barrage of bitch slaps by fanboys since its release.

the PS3 community demonstrated extraordinary hubris and even started the in-game model comparisons, frequently comparing screenshots to Forza 3 and declaring it “a game-changer” and “better than real life” way before the first actual gameplay footage had been released.

I'm sorry, what is EMEAA?

Also, is it really surprising that the latest game in a 13 year old franchise debuts strong on a platform currently devoid of any real exclusives for the holiday season?

Define 'real exclusives'.

Not a shitty move game.

Ah, so motion-games?

Yeah, not a game for PlayStation Move. This is Sony's only core title for the holiday making.

Thanks for the breakdown, it's nice to know you consider core-titles to be the only 'real exclusives'.

I don't think anyone in their right mind thinks The Fight or Kinect Sports are real exclusives. Their causal fodder that holds no weight with the core audience.

Yeah, they're fake exclusives.

If it looked an entire generation ahead then it wouldn't look the same in a side-by-side comparison shot.  Hell, the only difference I can see in any of the shots is the better tire texture on the evo in FM3.
