I have never beaten this game. I'm almost done with Ys, and I'm taking a break from Dead Rising 2 (on third run). Ys made have a hankering for oldschool Zelda. I beat Link to the Past and Link's Awakening over the summer and I've replayed those a billion times but this is a relic of my childhood I have never completed.

I'll be asking for tips if at all possible, but so far I'm finding it better than the original Zelda which, while a childhood favorite, just ain't up to snuff anymore.

Someone on SA suggested this when I'm done with Zelda II citing it has better gameplay, graphics;etc without the bullshit "challenge" of Zelda II.

Zelda II is garbage.

Before you move on to the next dungeon. Grind an extra level of exp in the previous dungeon. Makes the game a lot easier.

I started this game like a year ago, and didn't get past the first 5 minutes. I really should complete it.

First time I've ever heard Brain Lord mentioned on a message board... thought the game was pretty forgotten. I remember the ads in old EGM mags, the game looked real cool, but I regret I never got around to playing it.

I know what the good games are bro... I dont forget a classic. Brainlord is awesome. Still own it after all these years. And for you weeaboos, it was published by Enix I think

I can't. I defeated the horsehead in the first dungeon and the dungeon crumbled.

Zelda II is garbage but it has some pretty great qualities to it (mostly music and lore that ended up being bettered in later games).

Play Xanadu, much better game.

I'm liking the idea of Zelda 2, it's just not particularly fun. The Zelda formula is one I find addictive as hell and this game is just not up to snuff. I think I'd love it 10000 times more if you were warped to the BEGINNING of the dungeon if you get a game over like with every other Zelda ever.

Hence why save states make playing the game actually bearable.

Zelda 2 was before it's time. It would have been a hot game if done on the SNES. Better graphics, better control, etc.


That game and Bionic Commando would have been amazing sequels on SNES.

Have fun himu.  I like Zelda 1 and 2 still, but like the admiral, I remember where to go.  Did beat Zelda 2 without a game over for the first time a couple years ago.  Now I go for that each time like the other Zeldas.
