Holiday Season 2010
« on: November 27, 2010, 09:05:58 AM »
With Wilco's absence, no need to include the Jews! Did you guys load up on shit for Black Friday?! :hyper Who has their tree up?!?!?! :hyper Who could really give a shit?!?!?!?! :hyper Post your Holiday Happenings so we can extend out whatever 1 day event into a month long celebration!

spoiler (click to show/hide)
I bought some blu-rays from Amazon at 2am on BF. Picked up the first 3 seasons of Mad Men for $9.99, Inglourious Basterds for $12.99 and American Psycho for $7.99. Picked up a few gifts from Target. Got fucked over by their app, unreliable piece of fuck.

Don't have the tree up yet but at the new house, we have crazy vaulted ceilings, and I bought the tree we'd been using for the last 4 years for like $30. (Artificial I know  ::) I have allergies) The shit tree was supposed to hold us over a year (as long as I thought it'd last), but it's still chugging along. But it's 6 ft and we have so much extended space to fill (and not just with expensive, heated air), so we bought a 7.5 foot tree last night!! :hyper I'm like 5ft 2 so it towers over me. Yayyyy!

This weekend is the best of the whole year! Still eating Thanksgiving leftovers and it's not absurd to start putting the tree up.

The good thing for us is that we eat Thanksgiving away from home, so we don't have leftovers to bring home with us.  (We hate holiday leftovers.  It's just not as good the second time around.)  The wife is with my womenfolk inlaws today for a Christmas party.  I'm cleaning up the house today so we can put up our Christmas decorations for the next few days.

She went BF shopping for over 25 hours yesterday.  She came back with a lot of gifts for the kiddo and my nieces and nephews.  She also got a Shark Steam Mop (I don't know the purpose of it), some clothes from Old Navy, some Rubbermaid storage bowls, and a griddle!

We're still saving money for the rest of the Christmas presents and a trip we're taking to Gatlinburg, TN.

Griddles are awesome!

My husband said it first and I agree - our leftovers are even better than the first time around. I usually hate leftovers too, especially turkey cause it gets so dried out. But this time :drool That's one reason we do Thanksgiving now, because we can collaborate and say, "Ok my mom's ham and sweet potatoes are bomb. Your mom's are ok but not as good, but her stuffing is better." And we do all the rest using both moms' recipes and tweaking them to make them way better.

I haven't done anything festive nor do I plan to.  8)

Now that's the spirit! I only like food and the lights.

I didn't leave the house until almost noon yesterday.  I live on a road which unfortunately sits directly in the middle of four major shopping points, so between 5 am and 11 am it stays pretty packed on Black Friday.  Plus, people are assholes.  I'd rather spend a little extra on the gifts I am buying than swim around in all that BF crap for half a day.  I only bought $15 worth of games on Steam for myself (Two of the Indie Packs, and K&L 2), and gifted a few games to people.  I got some awesome games gifted to me (:bow Drinky, pilonv1, MAF, Frag :bow2).  Depending on what's up for daily specials, I may not spend another dime and just save it all for the annual Steam holiday sale.

Tomorrow I have to go into work for around 3 hours - I didn't get to finish up the two apartments I was working in on Wednesday.  I've been putting it off for the last three days, so I need to just nut up and get it over with and call it an early start to the week.

I might put up the little tree with fiber optics lights I bought a few years back.  Yeah, I know it's incredibly cheesy, but I like the changing patterns and colors.  That's about it. I like Christmas, even the tackiest parts, I just don't like a bunch of it in the house.  Besides, where I live it rarely feels like Christmas, anyway.  We'll be lucky if it isn't 70 degrees and raining on Christmas Day.

Yeah, the weather in town is schizo.  It's yo-yoing from highs in the low 70's to lows in the 30's.

God that's all I can find.  :lol

We're halfway through putting the lights up and the final strand is dead. And it came in the same pack as the other strand. Ffffuuuuuu

Think they'll notice if I just bring back the one strand? It fills the box. (:teehee)

I didn't really care until I got older (and when I was really little). You find yourself a little girlfriend and it'll be different.

And holy fuck andrew, heart attack incoming!
