USB 2.0 backups are sloow
« on: November 30, 2010, 12:10:48 AM »
Got my first external drive ever.  Using Cobian backup to backup my 400gigs of data drive.  It's gonna be a whiiiiile.  Hope it's done by tomorrow night!

At least once I get this finished the incremental weekly backups should only take 10-20 mins since I don't really increase my drive much.

Also picked up a 1.5tb drive to replace my 500giger.  Gonna open up my computer and put it in tomorrow.  Burning backup dvds is so out of style when hard drives are so cheap.  1.5tb should last me a loooooong time.

Well, you could take the drive out of the housing and hook it up internally for the duration of the backup. I'm betting it won't bother you that much though.
