Bejeweled 3 - Color me impressed!
« on: December 10, 2010, 06:54:54 PM »
Just when I thought Popcap shouldn't waste time on this air-quotes "Franchise", that spawned many superior clones , and continue churning out new games in the vain of Peggle and Plants vs Zombies, they release this awesome update that caught me off guard. The game is LOADED with with modes and content, badges to collect, and ranks to achieve. I never thought I'd say this, but today I was genuinly impressed with a match-3 game.

I don't even know what bejeweled is.  Is it that free game that came with every X360 at launch?

You're probably thinking of Hexic HD, one of the crappier match 3 games. Bejeweled is one of the earliest if not first casual game made by Popcap, Bejeweled 2 is arguably their most famous. The PC version was offered for free a few weeks ago in celebration of 3's release. Didn't we have a thread about that here or was it at GAF?

Ah hexic.  Yeah I got a few achievements and never touched it again.  Guess I've yet to play Bejewled.  In general I avoid casual games.  Not really my genre.  Although I do like Peggle.

As I posted in the random gaming talk thread, Bejeweled 3 is a great game, but I can't convince myself to spend $20 on a casual game.  If it drops to $10 during the Steam sale I will certainly pick it up.

I pretty much like everything PopCap puts out so I'm sure I'll eventually get around to this and one of the dozens of versions they put out on every platform under the sun.

I don't know why, but I feel responsible for selling everyone this game. (btw, I'm just as surprised as everyone that they actually created a quicklook video for this game).
