Forza 4 - 1000 cars ALL with in car views. That would destroy GT5.

Turn 10 already has 500 cars with cockpit views. 500 more with Forza 4 is possible.

GT5's 200 cars with cockpits couldn't compete.

This drab-sim has more cars than this other drab-sim, that other drab-sim is destroyed total

Yeah, THIS one won't be some drab shitsim racer. THIS one will be what does it. And if not, well then there is always 5. Or 6. In 2013.

You jump from a helicopter (start of a run, but made in action-thriller style), shred a bit, lose your grip and have to deploy a wingsuit.

As a matter of principle, I refuse to watch this show.  That would be even more loserish than posting on a gaming board on a Saturday night.

Confirmed?

Probably. Todd Howard said they really like working with it and don't have any plan at present [present=a month or two ago] to start using a new engine.

Yes, I need a confirmation because Gamebryo is old as shit and at some point they need to get a new engine.  Everyone figured with Zenimax buying ID a while back that meant ES5 would be Rage.  Maybe it still is.  Need confirmation.

Not that I care either way, I just want confirmation so I can laugh at all the ES fans who will be stuck playing another ugly as shit buggy game until modders fix it up a year or two later.

Redefining the SSX franchise, SSX: Deadly Descents will pit riders versus both mountain and man. Players will explore the story of a team who seek to be the first to descend the faces of the most treacherous mountain ranges on the planet. The team will travel the world to face the worst that Mother Nature can throw at them. From the peaks of the Himalayas, where the air is so thin that riders have to descend through the death zone at breakneck speeds to keep from blacking out, to the solid ice ranges of Antarctica, where a sunlit line is the only survival option when temperatures drop 50 degrees centigrade in the shade. And the mountain isn’t the only danger players will face. In SSX: Deadly Descents the first goal is to survive. The second, in true SSX fashion, is to look good doing it.

And who can blame EA for taking the SSX series somewhere radically different from where it's been. They have to make money and I guarantee Snowboarding down Avalanches and in Tornadeos is more appealing than wacky snowboarders with Afros and shit.

I think it's just a limitation of the current tech.  Using a muted color palette is the best way for devs to make things look more realistic.

If it plays anything like Skate I'll pass completely. I don't like that game and I don't like fiddling with the right stick to pull off special moves.

As far as the look and some of the themes and such its not a surprise they would change it quite a bit to attract a wider audience. The reason the game has been MIA was because it wasn't selling.

Hopefully it still captures that spark about what made SSX great.

Yeah I don't like it in most games when they try to substitute precision button press stuff into right analog gestures. I only tolerate it in NBA 2k because I'm a basketball nut. But yeah I immediately switch it to button control in Fight Night and overall tend to avoid games that make it a big part of the experience.

Never played Resistance 2. I played Resistance 1 and I never really got what other people saw but whatever.

Apparently most people didn't like 2 according to what I've read because they changed a lot of things from one. So it sounds like they are reverting everything back to how it was in the first one ala the weapon wheel.

Resistance 1 was not bad for a launch title.  I especially liked the weapons which were chaotic like R&C guns but also not too wacky for the setting.

I never tried 2 though.  Even the Sony fans told me it was bad.

Apparently most people didn't like 2 according to what I've read because they changed a lot of things from one. So it sounds like they are reverting everything back to how it was in the first one ala the weapon wheel.

That's basically it.

R1 was good for a launch title like Smooth said.  It had some nice visuals (snow), challenging gameplay and a large selection of wacky weapons you could use at anytime from the weapon wheel.  It's probably one of the most strategic console FPS I've played because of the wheel.  You have to figure what weapon works for each spot you get stuck on since every weapon has a unique use and they're all pretty useful in some situation.  Sort of like how Vanquish puts all the weapons in each arena so you can pick and choose according to your approach.

R2 was terrible.  The level design sucked and they went to a two weapon only system, but since they wanted to keep the "wacky weapons with specific uses" they would just drop a specific weapon at your feet before entering a room where it's the most useful weapon for that room.  Then you go to the next room and they drop a different gun that works for that room.  It basic handholds the whole game and gets rid of the entire "use your brain and figure out your own strategy to get past a point" aspect of the gameplay.  Plus the story was absolute ass with one of the worst endings ever.  The graphics were pretty weak too; awful texture-work everywhere.

R3 is a big question mark.  They're going back to the wheel so in theory the gameplay should be creative and good again.  But they'll need strong level design to support it.  They also need a non-shit story and preferably graphics that don't look like a PS2 game running in HD.  If they pull it off, more power to them.  I wouldn't mind getting back on the Resistance bandwagon but they have a lot to make up for after R2.  R1 is up there with Halo 1-3, CoD 1-2, MW1-2, and Half-life 1/2 as the most enjoyable FPS experiences I've had.  R2 is the worst FPS I've ever played.  Huge quality gap between the two.

Resistance PSP is pretty decent as well, maybe even better than R1.  I just got tired of the fake dual-analog controls.

It had some nice visuals (snow),

I remember the Sony fans oohing and aahing over the broken windows effects.  It took me awhile before I knew what the heck they were talking about.  They were decent but not really that impressive.  Same thing with Mirror's Edge which used even more advanced physics for breaking windows.  I still don't think any game has gotten that effect right.

eh, it comes down to personal taste but I thought R1 was very good at the time.  It even has cool new game+ incentives with new useful weapons for your 2nd run.  I think the SP is underrated.  Then again I dunno how well it holds up these days.  But a lot of games that are great for their time don't hold up anymore.

and another example is I said Halo 1-3 which a lot of people disagree with because they think Halo 2 not a great fps campaign.  I disagree.  I thought Halo 2 was a fantastic SP campaign outside the stupid boss with a giant hammer.  The plot twist of playing as the Arbiter was really cool and the gameplay scenarios were fresh and well designed.  I like Halo 2's campaign every bit as much as 1/3.  Oh and I forgot to include ODST which I thought was a really excellent SP campaign outside the city hub parts and the fact it's pretty short.

And another thing R1 had over R2 is story coop.  Sure it was split-screen only, but at least it existed.  R3 having online coop for the entire story is good in that respect.

R2 visuals actually look better in this comparison.  Kinda surprising since so many people said that the sequel looked significantly worse.

I liked Resistance 1.  Felt like a game stuck between old and new styles of fps games.  Hated Resistance 2 since it felt like a poorly executed CoD game, and I'm not the biggest CoD fan.

Resistance 3 is sounding great so far.  I'm digging the style and it reminds me of L4D2.

Resistance 2 is really inconsistent

it looked better, go check any number of video comparisons on youtube, etc.  gameplay is personal taste, but it definitely looked better.  the fucking wheels on the cars in R1 were hexagonal, and it was pretty washed-out and detail-free overall.
