Really, I don't want anything this Christmas. Everything I really want is either too expensive to get (a new mattress that doesn't destroy my back) or I'm already dedicated to buying on my own (Steam games during the holiday sale, tickets to Tron Legacy in IMAX and True Grit). So, nothing.

I need a new one because my receiver finally crapped out after about 6 years.  I love my speakers, so i just need the receiver but it's not at the top of my list because of where i'm currently living.  I can't really use a surround sound to my liking right now because of damn apartment walls.

Mupepe, I have been told that at that price range (~400 €) you can really only get this one or the Onkyo TX-SR608 (which has a fan and is kind of power hungry if you need passive HDMI passthrough). Will write impressions once I have it in my grubby paws, at the earliest around the 25th. Can't test the iphone app though since I neither have an iphone nor do I intend to buy the bluetooth dongle.

Smooth Groove, I already have medium-quality ELAC boxes, good enough for me.

The Pioneer will simply succeed my trusty ~12-year-old Onkyo. Its only fault is that it doesn't do Component, HDMI or DTS and only has one coax and one TOSLink input. Still working like a champ, it kind of hurts to sell it off/throw it away now. Only nine more days, my old friend. :'(


Oh yeah, back on topic, I'd kind of like a recent-ish smartphone (Android 2.1+/iphone). My "internet-only" Blackberry 9500 gets on my nerves, and my "main phone" Nokia E65 is starting to act reeeeally wonky. A friend has an HTC Desire, looks kind of neat.

You might still want to get an Iphone if you're interested in playing some games.  Check out the Infinity Blade thread in the gaming forum.  The game looks amazing.  Even though I'm not a fan of mobile gaming, I'd definitely give it a try if there are more games like that. 

If not, I'd recommend the droid phones.  Both my HTC-G2 and my dad's Samusng Vibrant are fantastic.  G2 is a little more convenient with the keyboard but the Vibrant has a noticeably nicer screen.  You can't really go wrong with either.

Having lots of disposable income and poor impulse control, I don't want a whole lot that I don't just buy for myself. Just off the top of my head, this year I got a new TV for my room, a pimp-ass gaming PC rig, an iPad, and a new 17# MacBook Pro. I'm not Smooth Groove but I'm doing ok on the toys front. There are some nice things about being old. The one thing I'd actually like my wife to buy for me is this, though:



We have a smaller one but I make a lot of soups, stews and curries and could really use a larger one. She's vehemently opposed to it because it's a pain in the ass to store. I love the smaller one though, so I still want one, and getting it as a gift is probably the only way I could get it and not have to deal with years of resentment about it later. Married life!

I would really like to get my teeth fixed, I went to the dentist yesterday and it was all bad news. I guess all that shit talking over the years caught up cause my mouth is shit.  :'( I can't even afford the fucking root canals I need done. I've tried looking for a dental clinic but they want me to wait months while I'm in pain now.

other than that and world peace I could really use a pair of size 14 1/2US size shoes. I've worn down my vans to the point that you can see my foot through the sole.

Mr Gundam - yeah, it kicks ass. It distributes the heat so evenly, everything just tastes better when I use it. I have a big pressure cooker that I use for volume cooking, but things just don't come out as well as with the Le Creuset. It will be mine, one way or the other. I just would prefer to not deal with whining about it later

I'm also holding out for a cherry red one at 26cm, which seem to be very rare around here. I want it to match the smaller one

If I get any vidjagames, movies, etc. right now, I won't be able to enjoy them until May. Tax season...  :'(

I always need clothes for work since I never leave there but to sleep this time of year (no lie... ), but I have to just go myself and try them on because I'm approaching midget territory. I mean, TLC might even give me a show. So someone could give me a gift card, but I won't have time to actually shop for myself until May anyway.

Maybe somebody will pay some of my bills (and actually log into my bank and do it for me, with my own money would be a gift as long as I don't have to do it for a month) or buy me passes to my chiropractor or gift cards for fast food so I can eat during tax season or something. Shit gifts accepted and appreciated here

But oh shit, I have effectively gotten the best gifts for everybody else! I enjoy grabbing other people's gifts more than making my own list. I got an awesome deal on The Pacific for my dad. I got a ton of shit for my mom, all of which she really wanted but doesn't know that I got for her (unless my sister opened her big fucking mouth, highly likely). My in-laws both got a mixture of appropriate gift cards and an awesome gift they'll love (and they're hard to buy for too). My sister wanted some dumb cunt-ry cds but I refused, so I got her a Target gift card so she can buy her own Kid Rock cds or whatever, in addition to a Burts Bees gift basket with lipgloss n shit. Only have a few people left to buy for. Went xmas shopping with my BFF and she almost bought a few things for herself but she didn't because she had so many Christmas expenses, so I went back and bought them for her. She's mentioned both items since multiple times, and one isn't sold anymore so she's heartbroken. Little does she know... me    Christmas!

Oh yea, BFF & I also made a bunch of all natural body stuff for my mom and my sister, like sugar body scrub and stuff to put in your bath that smells like french toast and is amazing for your skin. And I've gotten to test it all out.

What state do you live in? You might be able to find a dental school for the work; they provide more affordable care than a general dental office, although I dunno about root canals. We charge $912 for those, but it's really more like a grand when you add the other stuff required
