I always need clothes for work since I never leave there but to sleep this time of year (no lie... ), but I have to just go myself and try them on because I'm approaching midget territory. I mean, TLC might even give me a show. So someone could give me a gift card, but I won't have time to actually shop for myself until May anyway.

Maybe somebody will pay some of my bills (and actually log into my bank and do it for me, with my own money would be a gift as long as I don't have to do it for a month) or buy me passes to my chiropractor or gift cards for fast food so I can eat during tax season or something. Shit gifts accepted and appreciated here

But oh shit, I have effectively gotten the best gifts for everybody else! I enjoy grabbing other people's gifts more than making my own list. I got an awesome deal on The Pacific for my dad. I got a ton of shit for my mom, all of which she really wanted but doesn't know that I got for her (unless my sister opened her big fucking mouth, highly likely). My in-laws both got a mixture of appropriate gift cards and an awesome gift they'll love (and they're hard to buy for too). My sister wanted some dumb cunt-ry cds but I refused, so I got her a Target gift card so she can buy her own Kid Rock cds or whatever, in addition to a Burts Bees gift basket with lipgloss n shit. Only have a few people left to buy for. Went xmas shopping with my BFF and she almost bought a few things for herself but she didn't because she had so many Christmas expenses, so I went back and bought them for her. She's mentioned both items since multiple times, and one isn't sold anymore so she's heartbroken. Little does she know... me    Christmas!

Oh yea, BFF & I also made a bunch of all natural body stuff for my mom and my sister, like sugar body scrub and stuff to put in your bath that smells like french toast and is amazing for your skin. And I've gotten to test it all out.

Yep, and if not debt (because I know most of them are not extremely wealthy) then they're just giving themselves unnecessary stress.  I hate January coming along and barely making it because Christmas was such a financial clusterfuck.  I did that one year and decided that everyone is getting the equivalent of stocking stuffers.  And my wife has a family consisting of 43 cousins and 12 aunts and uncles.  Even at 20 bucks a person that's a shitload of money.

We do a gift card exchange with my parents' families (aunts, uncles, cousins, etc.). Everyone gets a $25 giftcard, wraps it and throws it in a pile. We draw numbers and steal from each other. It's fun and doesn't nuke your bank account.

Holy shit! Yea fuck that, we have a huge extended family, but we only buy for our parents, my sister, my grandma and two of our good friends. I have two cousins I'm really close to so I might pick them up something if we're going to see them at Christmas. That's about it.

But I don't spend a shitload on them, and I definitely don't go into debt for it. I just put a lot of thought into their $20-30 gift (or for our parents, $50 considering they spend a lot more on us). I personally hate receiving a generic $30 gift when there was probably a million other things I probably could have used instead. So I figure if I have to spend money on them anyway, I'd like to get them something they really really like. My BFF for instance, she wanted this scarf and this coin purse. Total $25. But both are things she really wanted but wouldn't buy for herself at the time and is now kicking herself in the ass for it. If I don't get any clues and can't think of something myself or with help, I'll get them a gift card to somewhere I know they like. It helps because our family is so small at this point (:'(), and we're really close to them, so it doesn't take a lot of time and effort to pick out a thoughtful gift.

I operate under the policy of giving people gift cards for Christmas unless they mention something specifically. All too often have I run into a situation where Ive given something or gotten something that isn't wanted or is a duplicate. Much easier to give someone a gift card and let them be the one deciding what that get, even if it can be seen as a lazy thing to do.

I start out with a gift card in mind for each person, and then that slowly gets replaced with something they mention they really like and don't have. Luckily I talk to all my family fuckers every god damn day almost, and they tell me every time they take a piss, so I know if they're even planning to buy something, including groceries. I know more of what goes on in my parents house than when I lived there.

In-laws are harder because I don't talk to them regularly, so I buy them a small gift and a gift card. That way I know my mother-in-law won't go complaining about what awful color shirt or ugly earrings I bought her or some shit. Every time anybody shows her anything they have, she's like, "Oh that's nice. Not my style, and I wouldn't of ever bought that, but I'm sure it'll be nice for you."

My extended family is so obscenely huge everyone just gave up on the mass gift-giving long ago. It's just totally absurd. My mother has 24 brothers and sisters due to being 1) Catholic, 2) Irish, 3) poor and my granddad marrying 3 times (you can probably guess what happened to the first two - terminal uterine explosions i think).
