My Japanese 360 started getting E71 errors in May or June. It would freeze whenever I turned it on or just boot me straight to the E71 error screen. After a couple weeks of this, I just assumed my system was dead, so I unplugged it and put it on a shelf for a few months. Then in October or so, right before I was going to send it in for repair, I figured I'd hook it back up and see if it works... and it did. And it's still working. In fact, it hasn't locked up or given me an error screen a single time since I hooked it back up.
It does have a few quirks (Ketsui won't play if it's installed, and Strike Witches randomly kicks me back to the dashboard if it's installed), but for a system that is now undead, I guess I can live with it.
