Someone needs to do some camping or survival holidays.

The moment we step out of what our modern civilisation so generously provides is the moment we are humbled. When your money means nothing and all you have is a proverbial big stick you come to realize just what an awesome life we're living normally, far from the horrors of truly being part of a food chain, drowned in food and mostly one-use items of uniformly high quality, protected from the elements to a degree that we might as well live inside a space station. We have so much free time to think of awesome things because essentially we created our own space-time bubble to live in.

Without our social aspect, without others to provide when we can't, we are barely able to survive.

I mean, just look at this, this is nature in a nutshell:

This one didn't fit, though.

I guess I could have included it in the "nature is a bitch" section, under the assumption that nature = universe.

Also, I want to go camping again. Just sold my tent and stuff since I'll be moving soon and have no space in my new apartment. :'(

I believe the footage of the japanese bee defense was in the same doc as the cut youtube clip is. Its really cool and makes you understand how introducing a single foreign species into an ecosystem can devastate it.

I'm really not in favor of the death penalty and the only people I think who should be in jail for long lengths at time are people who deserve it. I was just asking because I don't know what foreign law is like in those countries, and yes I know the woman is mentally ill. But what if she wasn't, how would she be treated? How long do prisoners who murder get time in Europe? Does it range?

Death penalty is stupid, giving the criminal a quick and easy way out. *

Let them suffer, and I mean suffer, for as long as possible. Turn the hardcore cases into a workforce at maximum efficiency. Sleep should be reduced to a minimum, physical labour to a maximum, and meals should give them just enough energy to continue living and working. If they have enough energy to smuggle drugs and shank each other they're just not being worked hard enough.

I would have loved to see e.g. Saddam and his ilk work themselves to the bones for those they wronged. By god, there's still enough broken shit down there to keep a generation of workers busy. And even if there isn't, there's enough sand to shovel around to keep anyone busy for as long as they live and then some. I'm sure they'd be perfect for sniffing out and disabling bombs and mines, too. Why waste perfectly good expendable slaves by hanging them?
