I think she needs a break. She has been passing out and shit in the middle of concerts.

For me, The Fame Monster is mostly about mood. Like the build up in Alejandro, or the majority of Dance in the Dark. It had a nice theme that made her feel different from other pop stars. In her singles for Born This Way, I'm not getting that, Judas aside. They don't feel like Lady Gaga.

Oh puhleaze himu! I gave Gaga credit before cause I like her voice and she knows what kind of music gets popular and she knows how to get attention, so yeah she knew what she was doing and she did it well. But claiming she had a message and all that shit when all it sounds like to me is random lyrics just souns like what a blind fanboy would say, you're better than that.

She did have a message. A lot of her songs tended to follow a theme about being famous, the music industry or rich. The Fame? The Fame Monster? Paparazzi? You think these are just random titles? I'm not saying they're fucking Shakespeare but to say she had no message is 100% false and ignorant.

It really depends. Some songs are nonsense, but I think some songs do have a message or imply some meaning. I think Bad Romance, Dance in the Dark and Speechless are perfect examples.

But it's pop music, and it doesn't really have to have a message. Most of Michael Jackson's music certainly didn't have a message but I love it anyways. But I do think that Gaga has a persona about that makes her more interesting or more self aware than her peers. I'm not getting the same vibe with her latest album's singles however. It's probably because I prefer ballad Gaga and the more dark Gaga over this...overly electronic Gaga. These songs have no mood.

Are those song titles and song meanings part of a theme/message, or can she just not think of anything better? Is it the equivalent of power chords in pop punk? It sells, it's safe and it's lazy.

I'm sure she felt compelled by God to recycle the theme of whining about superstardom in the same manner as so many of her progenitors. She's the first artist in 25 years to put it on the top 40, that just means she's fucking smart. How could something so beautiful and pure be completely trite?

I'm the farthest thing from a Gaga fan, or a dance-pop fan in general. But I do think that even if you disect her earlier songs into it's basic garageband beats + simplistic hooks, she did rise above the masses that tried that bare minimum, the only conclusion being she had a certain x-factor beyond just dressing funny. It had all the generic trappings but wasn't necessarilly generic.

Have heard pretty little of her new stuff but it seems like it is just generic without anything else poking around the edges.

People didn't like Gaga initially because her lyrics were deep. It's just generic europop with a quirky personality behind a microphone. It's custom tailored to teenage girls and barsluts who share the same self obsessive superficial view of originality. It's mindless pop to dance to in the club. Her dressing funny definitely played a role because what she wore led to some discussion, which was its intended effect.

Her new CD singles are designed to generate controversy. She assumed that there'd be some huge backlash from conservative "family" groups who would stomp their feet and call for copies of Born This Way to be steamrolled in public gatherings. She wanted the controversy that Madonna made 20 years ago where conservatives would recoil in horror at any video she'd put out. The end result was that nobody gave a fuck and wound up pissing off fans instead. Oops.

Not to say that her CD won't sell a few million copies and her singles won't sell millions of copies on iTunes but it is a downward trajectory from here. She's driven herself into a corner. It also doesn't help that you have famous people like Rihanna who are copying her style and remaining consistent. People who get pissed at her next single trying to ape Madonna can just get the new Rihanna album instead. The eurotrash/pop craze will be around for a couple of more years and people can and will easily move on from Gaga, much like they did with Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys once a better version came out. Gaga's head is too far up her own ass to figure this out.

well theres the North Island, which is the good one. And the South Island, which sucks.

South Island is full of hicks and distinguished mentally-challenged fellows. No cities worth visiting. Scenery is really nice though

North Island is fairly flat and boring, but is home to the two big cities in NZ.
