I'm a little confused though....
him going back into the game...they barely touched on that. What happened during the rest of the game? More tackles, more head hits? More running? If he played another full half or something, then yeah, that's really scary.
But it shouldn't just stop at having to be cleared by a medical professional. You suspect you have a concussion? You're out of the game, no questions asked. It's entirely too dangerous and risky otherwise. Fuck records or wins or stats, get the fuck OUT of the game and go to the hospital.
One of my best friends from high school was our star DLB. One game, he was involved in a severe hit that made him see stars, as well as forget his name for 10 minutes. After he came to and remembered the surrounding situation and his name, the coaches were about to put him back in (it was an important game for our school's future in the playoff system we had). My friend absolutely refused 100%, saying there was no way he would go back in. He rode the bench most the season because of his refusal.
Coaches suck nuts.
