I imagine the source is different, not just for where the data was surveyed (Isn't that image from 2-ch?), as well as the demographic. Japan loves Hollywood movies, esp. high budget science fiction. Even if it's based on a Japanese property. Japan is, generally, not as hot on non-Japanese games. Or foreigners having all kinds of negative opinions on Japanese stuff. And Japan's Autism-spectrum geeks are every bit as over-the-line batshit if you try and take away their toys.
