What's wrong with mobile games? There's some good stuff there these days.
Mobile is like the Wii: it's fine as a supplementary game device to play the occasional game on, but it's ill-suited for proper games and thus hosts relatively few of them. Anyone who uses it as their only or primary gaming device has very, very suspect taste.
Note that unlike what Shaka is thinking, I'm not merely comparing mobile gaming to Vita/3DS. This conversation spun from talking about Smoky's tastes, and Smoky puts mobile ahead of PS3/360/PC, too. Shit ain't right, man. Shit ain't right.
Woah, woah, woah. Smoky does not put mobile ahead of PS3/360/PC in terms of
quality. Where my love for mobile games comes from is the fact that, although I love my consoles / PC, I don't get all that much time to play on them. I've always owned handhelds but never found them very portable. Now, I can carry 'good enough' games with me everywhere I go. I play more mobile games because of that, so I talk about mobile games more.
If you asked for my top ten games of the generation, all ten would be on PS3, 360 or PC.
Mobile games fucking rock though. Sometimes 'good enough' is good enough.
