What's wrong with mobile games? There's some good stuff there these days.
Mobile is like the Wii: it's fine as a supplementary game device to play the occasional game on, but it's ill-suited for proper games and thus hosts relatively few of them. Anyone who uses it as their only or primary gaming device has very, very suspect taste.
Note that unlike what Shaka is thinking, I'm not merely comparing mobile gaming to Vita/3DS. This conversation spun from talking about Smoky's tastes, and Smoky puts mobile ahead of PS3/360/PC, too. Shit ain't right, man. Shit ain't right.
Ah yeah, I do agree that, at least for now, it's a supplementary game device more than anything. I got a second hand iPhone from someone and had some fun playing some mobile games, but I still do virtually all my gaming on my PC or laptop. I'd say I play mobile games as much as I play on my 360, which isn't that much.
but you said in #ga you've been rocking that wii sports resort incessantly as of late.

edit: The whole rhetoric about 'real games on real platforms' is tiring. (not referring to you specifically here). If its fun its fun, qualifying beyond that just seems to be some elitist mindset that acomplishes... well I dunno what this attitude hopes to achieve. Maybe its an issue of validation in the hobby, or maybe its a preference for certain type of games to the exclusion of other diversions. My issue with ios is the trend of in-app-purchases, but there's a beautiful simplicity to game design that I'm super fond of here. Kinda why I liked the wii in the first place.
