Polygon thread is the most fun I've had on GAF in quite a while. I feel bad about enjoying a slow-motion trainwreck for a site that isn't out, but seems like every week they dig themselves even deeper.

Arthur Gies and Phil Kollar have GAF accounts and had been (about 10 pages back) to stem the tide of negativity, but I think they've just bailed out at this point.

I said, had I continued to post.  When I left GAF, my post per day average was like 27/day.  I was only a few thousand behind Y2 Kev at that point.  It was another motivating factor for leaving, actually, haha.

I doubt that. Kev gained 40k+ posts in two years?

And 27 posts per day for two years is 19k posts.

Oh she was totally annoying about Bayonetta that one time then I childishly blocked her. She's kinda unbearable in discussion, I wouldn't go to her for conversation as anything but a pokedex of valuable information. Nah. Vennt was right when he permabanned me a few years ago .. 'You don't fit in the community' was the ban message. Poligaf is unreadable, OT is overwhelmed by weeping vaginas and I barely even play games anymore. Everyone I used to enjoy reading/interacting with when I joined in 2004 is about gone. So, it was time for me to move on.

People in Poligaf were incredulous when I quit before the election, but this is one of the most boring and predictable presidential elections of my adult life. A non-event .. so I won't miss a thing.

There's been a continual downwards trend in quality for the forum for many years, but once they put all the OTs in Community, the Off Topic half of the forum became the pit of eternal stench.

Probably because it was largely a cult of personality in 07/08. Lots of gaffers were heavily invested in Obama and we witnessed the greatest primary season in US history. The the general election had Palin, McCain imploding, and all of October knowing Obama would win. I remember some guy used to post daily pics of Obama looking cool, there were multiple memes, videos, etc. It was a fun time even during the Hillary arguments

Now it's a bitter fight to save a president who hasn't led as he campaigned, the economy is still bad, and people are super defensive. At least 70% of them would literally cry if Obama lost
