I think it works for the rest of them too, you can now go back to reading how Japanese people walk like this "dooh dah", while Westerners walk like this "dooh dooh dah", or Gizmodos ability to make every news story somehow about apple, happy reading!

Yeah the reason I liked Gawker was the same as GAF its a good news aggregator, but now on the basic layout anyway they screwed that up.

my scroll wheel only makes the sidebar go down, and when it gets to the end the articles just dissappear. maybe this is the nudge i need to stop visiting these sites.

it really is the worst webdesign I can remember. it's not just ugly, it's unfunctional.

They designed the page so that you scroll the side-panel for those 30 articles. Main panel is reserved for top stories and viewing articles' content.

They basically went for the multi-panel design everyone is switching to these days (See: Twitter).

most of those type of apps are now compatible with ReadItLater and such for offline browser.

I think I'll give Reeder a shot too, everything else is annoyingly slow to load for me except Flipboard, where the content is too random for my taste.

Reeder was a good iOS RSS reader to begin with, but they recently added "Readibility" which allows you to load the entire article inside the app's neat interface in a nice and organized format instead of visiting the original article or depending on Google or Instapaper mobilizers which tend to mess up a lot of pages for me. The feature is brand new though, so it's not 100% compatible with all the site, but it's quickly getting there.

Reeder also supports a lot of third party services too, like ReadItLater and obviously FB and twitter.
