Dark Sector is one of the very few games this generation that was so fucking bad, I couldn't even force myself to finish it. So this game will most likely be abysmal.

It's a shame too, since the Darkness is one of the better "cinematic" FPS this gen.

Dark Sector >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Dark Void

GOD DAMN

Dark Void would literally have to be the worst video game ever made for this to be true. But I'm afraid Oblivion already holds that title.

The Darkness' gameplay ranged from subpar to mediocre, but as a cinematic game first and foremost, it did its job fairly well. But since Digital Extremes has never made anything above a 3/10, the sequel will probably be shit from top to bottom. Oh well, no big deal.

Good times, maybe Willco can come back for the Darkness 2 so we can make fun of him again.

At least the devs have one thing working in their favor and that is that most people won't remember how shitty The Darkness was, because most people don't remember it period.

TBH, that's one of the few things I remember about the game.

The hell sections, the AI, the level design, the pretty much everything

Earlier when I saw this news I was remembering the fun parts I had with The Darkness, like using my tentacles to throw cars and smash lights.  But that hell level, wow, I totally forgot about that.  That was torture.

Never played the original but this seems fun enough for a b shooter. Controls well and you are so powered up its fun.

Shooting and  the darkness power are fun.  Grabbing a car door as shield, then tossing it to slice an enemy.  I'm not necessarily against cover but I like it when modern shooters introduce ways for you to be more aggressive.  I liked how enemies went down quick, although that's probably just an early game thing because otherwise the skill tree would be mostly pointless.

What bothered me about this, and other games, are the unnecessarily long canned animations as finishing moves.  Seeing your tentacles chest burst through an enemy is neat the first time but after three or four times it starts to just feel like 5 seconds of loading.  It's reminded me of Splatterhouse.

It really is 4 hours... damn.

I would say this is a better playing game over The Darkness but it's not as interesting of a game. The Darkness took you to some pretty cool locals (like HELL WWII). Darkness 2's locations are a bit boring beyond the final level.

Good storyline. Wish there had been some more confrontation at the end between:
spoiler (click to show/hide)
Jackie and The Darkness. Like, maybe you FIGHT Mike Patton or something.

The ending was still satisfying though, but I think it only works if there's a guaranteed sequel since it leaves you hanging. Then again I keep forgetting single player DLC...

pretty good game overall. 4/5
