Headphone Problem...
« on: February 16, 2011, 06:04:36 PM »
If anyone here at least knows what I'm talking about I'll be happy. Anyway, I have a pair of Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, and just the other week whenever I plug them into my computer I seem to get a slightly skewed sound with the highs more on one side and the lows more on the other. I tried the headphones out with a buddy's mp3 player and got the same result. Does anyone know of an easy way to fix this, or even what could be the problem? Is it the input's fault? Can I send them back for replacements?

Also, it's like on every song the vocals are a little heavier on one side and the rhythm heavier on the other. It feels like I'm listening to the music diagonally instead of straight on, if that makes any sense.

Night need re-cabling or a new jack.  Try a new jack first. Do you have any other headphones that you can try on the same output? Could be the line out.

Listening to my dt990s and e7+e9 as I type this.   8)

Also are they dt770 pro 80-ohm? What's the sound signature like? How's the low end extension? I hear that the 770 pros are a little boomy.  Where's the bass peak? is it sub 55 hz or so or does it peak in the upper bass range?

Sorry lol, I've been wanting some dt770 pro 80s for a while now.

I have some modified MDR-v6s that I recabled and I didn't isolate the individual leads when connecting the new male 3.5mm jack and had the exact same problem you're describing so it has something to do with either your amps female jack, your headphone male jack, or the cable itself.

Those are fairly expensive headphones.  You could probably get the manufacturer to at least fix the problem for a price.  It's also possible that you're just having some temporary hearing problems.  Try another pair of headphones to check if the skewed hearing still exists.
