Kinda sad that it's so dominated by (edit: those) music videos.

What's sad is that "Charlie bit my finger - again!" has 282,000,000 views. Really, America?

you were probably too young to experience this, but there was a time when MTV showed music videos.

Are they actually different for each region? I thought YouTube was global.

Didn't they actually consider changing the name of the network a few years back?

If they did, that'd be colossally stupid.  I know the "music" part of MTV is long gone but the name still has brand power so for them to change now seems akin to New Coke.

Video's from the UK, but I blame America for making it popular.

Someplace should be showing music videos. If YouTube's resolution wasn't so crappy, I'd be using my PS3 to play playlists of music videos constantly.

I saw that MTV is now showing reruns of That 70s Show.

Given some of the view counts, it is clear that Youtube is doing what MTV should be doing.

Does MTV2 still show music videos?

I don't understand how they have/had three music networks (VH1 too!) and none of them fucking show MUSIC VIDEOS anymore.

But they still have the VMAs!   ???

Australian PS3 service has Vidzone, which basically does that. You can make your own playlists too. It's actually really cool but it's got the worst interface known to man.

Quote
VidZone is the largest online music video VOD service in the world[3], operated by London-based company VidZone Digital Media and Sony Computer Entertainment. The online service provides free streaming of music videos from the VidZone.tv website, in addition to music distribution through a number of mobile networks worldwide. The VidZone catalogue encompasses over 1.5 million tracks, 25,000 music videos and 15,000 realtones,[4] including full access to catalogues from Sony Music[5] and EMI.[6]

VidZone’s service was extended to the PlayStation 3 video game system in some PAL territories (UK, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Australia and Ireland) on 11 June 2009[7], allowing users to watch music videos on their PS3 or streamed to their PSP via Remote Play. The service was expanded by 11 countries: Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Luxembourg, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal and New Zealand, during November and December 2009.[2] The majority of videos are from artists signed to both Sony Music and the Universal Music Group.[8][9] On 16 August 2010, VidZone announced they now have a licensing agreement with EMI Music.[10] There are currently over 27,000 videos on the service.[11]
