It was cool, but the difficulty was kinda buggered in spots. If you didn't remember some scenes, you'd have a lot more trouble dealing with them. The outside level(s) against the military were somewhat shorter I think? And you have to crouch-jump a lot more. Xen is still not done, as the article states. That's it.

Well worth your time, all in all.

jump was broken in my experience.  you'd not jump but rather hop.  it made some of the platforming very difficult / obnoxious

Yeah, they hadn't finished that yet but since nobody wants to play it anyway they figured they'd release the rest.

I definitely wanted to play it, I just wanted it on Steam.

I think he meant no one wanted to play Xen. That whole section was doody.

Yeah, that's why you have to crouch-jump a lot more than I remember from the original.

I'm going to have to upgrade for Witcher 3.  :fbm

Maybe I can get by with a simple graphics card improvement.

Paper Sorcerer came out today.

It's a dungeon crawlan game with a Game Boy color palette.  Good stuff, though and fairly challenging.

It's only $5 so it's a good impulse buy.

If it's anywhere near Chivalry it will be good enough. Better, possibly, because you have a turn-taking AI instead of an entire enemy team swarming you and spamming thrusts and overhead swings.

I know they're just asking for 10% on kickstarter, but i wonder if 3 million will be enough considering how elaborate it looks from that vid.

Sorta forgot about the game.

I want to play, and it looks like I'm barely over the minspe (I've got a 2.6GHz):

CPU: 2GHz Dual Core
Memory: 3GB RAM
Graphics Card: 512MB Graphics Card supporting Direct X 9.0c and Shader Model 3.0 (example: nVidia 9800 GTX or AMD HD 5670)
Operating System: Windows XP or higher
Hard Drive: 5GB of free space
Internet Connection: Broadband

Double Dragon Neon came out on Steam for $10.  You can run it at 1080P and it now has online co-op...other than that it's the same as the console versions.

What are good recent indie titles on Steam? Aside from Rogue Legacy, Stanley Parable, Papers Please, Jazzpunk, and uhhhh I guess Gone Home? After I beat Link Between Worlds I want a good pc game to play alongside FFVII. Of those games, which should I get? I play Spelunky every day btw so I definitely think Rogue Legacy is out for now. I want that new Doublefine adventure game, but I'm going to wait till part 2. I dunno. I'm just in the mood for a good crpg but I don't want BG2 because I've played it enough times and Might and Magic X...ugh I'm not big on that style of first person rpg. May just get Ultima 7 from GOG.

how about some freeware titles himuro? if you like turn based strategy battle for wesnoth is fucking amazing, it looks super professional with detailed sprite graphics, really good music and tons of unit and the like... there are even some small rpg element too

or you could play hydorah, it's a gradius inspired shooter that is really well done and you can really see the love the programmer had for retro games

i guess both of these titles aren't exactly recent though...

Haven't played all of those, but some that had good feedback over the last year:

Kentucky Route Zero
Super Hexagon
Banner Saga
Eldritch
Paper Sorcerer
Gunpoint
Antichamber

Guacamelee is fantastic if you haven't played it

The Novelist didn't get exactly good feedback but still looks interersting.

Naissance looks cool art wise, no idea how good of a game it is:

Ever played one of the Spiderweb Software Rpgs? They are ugly, but play very zippy and have decent enough writing.

The latest release Avadon 2 got good reviews and I can recommend Avernum: Escape from the Pit as well.

Also Eschalon Book 3 came out this week.  Not too crazy about that series but they're decent.

Can we please have an overview for 2014/2015 titles for people like me who are starting to adopt the platform in a more serious manner rather than gaming on it every few months? Star Citizen and No Man's Sky are at the top of my list, as are Project Eternity and Torment 2, but what else? I like Warhorse.

Other than the games that are on every platform, there's:

Wasteland 2
Divinity: Original Sin
Massive Chalice
Elite: Dangerous
Planetary Annihilation
Civilization: Beyond Earth
A Hat in Time
Dreamfall Chapters
Tesla Effect
Armikrog
Stasis
Octopus City Blues
The Long Dark
Frontiers
Super Hot
Wildstar
Tangiers
Project CARS
Next Car Game
Underrail
Grim Dawn
Dead State
Hyper Light Drifter
Barkley 2
The Age of Decadence
Spacebase DF-9
Xenonauts
Stonehearth

I've got about 30 hours in this now. There's definitely some content that has been held back, but it's not stopping me from enjoying it. What is stopping me is the campaign structure, which is much more rigid than 4. Also there's not a great deal of new stuff. I really like the micromanaging with assigning managers to buildings, but that's about the only major new addition worth talking about, everything else is relatively minor.
