Ys I & II Chronicles PSP
« on: February 26, 2011, 08:21:03 PM »
Anyone played this yet?

Actually, wait, did anyone even play The Oath in Felghana?

Seems like Ys VII was the only good playable Ys after all.

Played both Ys VII and Oath. Both had different approaches to character building and combat, but I found Oath much more fun of a game. I still haven't played the PSP ports of the Ys I&II, but the PC ones they're based off of are the best versions of Ys I&II available. Now if you're going into I&II expecting something like VII and Oath then you'll probably be sorely disappointed that it still retains the "shoulder check" combat system of the originals.

i liked both ys7 and oath. i'd give oath the nod, but 7 was a pretty solid experience all around for me.

Oath is good stuff.  I've played Oath, VII, and Origins so far and they were all pretty hot.  How the hell can anyone hate on Ys VII.  Game was pure fun.

I picked up I&II to support Ys coming here and to finally give these games a shot.  I tried the NES version many moons ago of Ys1 and after like 30 mins I was like wtfisthis and stopped.  I think I will enjoy them more now on sexy psp.

Ys 7 was awesome.  I plan to play Ys Oath (and hopefully other games) during spring break (finally time to play games again...for one week!)

I want Ys 1&2 too, but any PSP game I don't already own on UMD, I'm not going to buy or play until the PSP2 comes out.  So I'll pick it up on PSN sometime down the road, along with Tactics Ogre and The Third Birthday.

The game is boring to me.  And they mmo'ed the game with their style of crafting.   And there were virtually no puzzles in 7 either and the dungeon design was bland.

i played this for like 5 minutes and it's pretty much a perfect port of eternal, with a new soundtrack slapped on it (you can also choice to use origin OST or the original pc-88 OST)

so what about eternal (well at least ys 1,that's what i played) ?

you can feel it's some pretty ancient game, half of the game takes place in the big bad tower (tough it's a pretty big tower),there is lot of grindings (heck in fact your first quest involve grinding!) a plot dull enough to be on par with the original dragon quest and it's really really short but ultimately it's somewhat decent

what most people probably don't know it's that it doesn't work like oath in felgana where you swing your sword around,in origin you attack monster by bumping into them,if you bump them right on you take damage so instead you have to bump them from an angle (think like bumping shoulders) i guess this pic makes it easier to understand

the first rpg i ever played was YS vanished omens on master system, and you had to bump into the enemies at the side with your sword in order to defeat them.
