The Tangled song was equally shitty and forgettable.

Academy is a bunch of hacks, as usual.  The King's Speech is the definition of meh.

Tom Hooper won best director

The Damned United was really good but The King's Speech...wasn't really that good outside of Colin Firth.

:lol the entire 'nominee' montage is based around King's Speech, and while they do it, they spoil every movie on the list.  shocking that king's speech actually won.

Really? :lol I liked the social network a lot but he definitely doesn't deserve a best acting award, spiderman and the guy playing the twins were better.

sad to see Shutter Island get snubbed completely. it was at least worthy of art direction and cinematography. Best picture of 2010 in my heart.

Wow, Oscars got it right two years in a row.  The Academy gave Social Network the technical awards that it deserved but looked past its glitz and polish to find a more deserving candidate for Best Picture & Director.

I haven't actually watched King's Speech yet. :lol  I just know that Social Network shouldn't be Best Picture.  It's contrived and tried too hard to be smart and meaningful, just like almost every project associated with Fincher or Sorkin.

Still haven't seen The King's Speech but it looks like typical Oscar bait.  I would have preferred Black Swan, Inception or True Grit honestly.  (Inception is just because I fucking love it, but I would have given it to Black Swan or True Grit).  I haven't seen Winters Bone yet.  I thought the awards were pretty spot on this year in most things.  Especially technical awards.

Oh yeah, and to be honest, I'm really, really, really glad Exit Through the Gift Shop didn't win.  I really don't see the appeal of that movie.  I think most people just don't care about the subject.  I certainly don't and this movie didn't change it.

Seriously?

Story of a King who learns to overcome his speech impediment with the help of a mentor to take his impromptu place on the throne.

Seriously?  The synopsis sounds like it's written for the Oscars.

Like I said, I haven't seen it so I can't comment on the quality but it's practically screaming for award attention.
