Good desktops
« on: March 22, 2011, 01:04:14 PM »
My parents want to get a new computer, either desktop or laptop but I'm trying to encourage them to desktop since they don't really need the mobility and I figured that they could get more for their money with a desktop.  I've been looking around and it seems like the market has really changed.  It's either some crap off the shelf model at Staples or some XTREME GAMING thing which would be nice, but are kind of expensive and unnecessary for what they need.  Looking to spend around $500-700.  Anyone have any recommendations?

Would they be fine with a Mac?  They could just get a Mini.

No interest at all in a Mac.  I suggested it to them and they completely shot it down.

That's too bad.  It would probably be exactly what they'd need.

They could always install Windows on it anyway.

You could just go the netbook/notbook route...get 'em the PC I just got and set it up as a "desktop."
