Isnt DS2 one of those 'if you dont have a faq/strategy guide youre fucked' games?

Lol, I got stuck on the AP thing as well. I thought it was one of those scripted encounters that you were supposed to die on since there's no way to beat it.

There's a patched version going around, gonna try it out now...

What's supposed to happen is that Daichi rushes in and then you can actually fight it I guess.

I updated my firmware using retrogamefan

The music is way more doodoo compared to 1

Well, no, because DS2 they balanced the game more. For one, STR is actually useful. In DS1, you were pretty much fucked if you focused on STR.

DS1 kinda required a guide if you were interested in getting one specific story route, since there were lots of seemingly meaningless choices that affected your options. I think they fixed that in DS2, since your allies have a Persona social link thing going on where they level up and get better resistances and such if you choose to spend time with them. Should be easier to tell whose routes you'll have open.

DS2 requires a guide if you don't want story character/party members to perm die.

Otherwise, it's all doable though there are one or two bosses that are frustrating until you make the right demons.

SMT related, but they announced Eternal Punishment coming to PSP. You can now own every Persona on a Vita (since 4 is Vita only).

I gave up on this game already, lol.

I threw my hands up when all the enemies kept healing each other to full health. It's like I wasn't even making progress.

Maybe a Overclocked 2 will come out to fix the balancing issues again.

Pretty much every SRPG ever?

Nah I'm usually awful at them, and the third day midday boss already had me wanting to put the game down for a while (Anti-Elec -Dance team seems to be the way to go there). Thankfully, they didn't do anything about abusing the everylivingfuck out of suspend saves.

I'm going pretty slow with this game, (about 4 hours in at level 15 or so), but I haven't come across any difficulty spikes. I did do one free battle that was pretty tough, and I was about to die so I retreated. The story battles have all been pretty easy though.

I'm enjoying the game, but so far I like the story and characters in DS1 a lot more. Maybe it's because this feels like too much of a repeat, while DS1 was something new. I dunno.

Some of the later Septentriones are really fucking irritating.

Same old issue with Free Battles as well, trash demons too low level to do much for you.

Man, I don't get Devil Survivor difficulty complaints at all.

First one was pretty easy outside a few spots.  This one is even easier outside a few spots.  The mainline SMT games are way harder than this stuff.  The only boss that really destroyed me on DS2 was the 5th Sepitron I think?  It's the one at the dock where you need to do a lot of moving.

Trick for DS2 is the same one as DS1:  Always keep +7 movement guys around so you can get around quick.  That + the right elemental resistances and you're set.

I'm not interested in spending 40 minutes fusing and making the perfect monsters.

I never do that.  You can get anything you need from the auction.

I dunno, man. My monsters kept getting practically one-shot by just a physical attack. From all counts I was at the same level that most were at. Then when I attacked, they just healed themselves back up. Really not worth the effort.

Yeah after finishing 2 I agree with that. The one that does all the moving around was the only boss that really gave me trouble. I had almost zero issues with anything after.

I do remember beating the final boss with everyone dead and only my lead character alive with 20HP as he lands the final hit 45 mins into the battle.

I also remember thinking if I had died and had to redo the final boss stage again, it'd be a piece of cake since the boss isn't hard at all, he's just a long ass endurance so you gotta plan the fight right.

For the most part yeah. A loaded team with Holy Dance and plenty of Repel/Drain/Null Phys can take out the last two stages solo while everyone else just endures the waves of demons. I really expected to have to take out all three platforms of the last stage.
