man, just once i wish i could get through an entire day without some bullshit
exchanged this series of emails yesterday
Hello, When do you think this will ship the iPad and I will receive it? I ask because, I am going to be forced to resell it immediately and just try to recoup my costs. My wife bought a new one from Verizon without consulting me. Verizon charges a $70 restocking fee so the eBay one must go. Don't worry, I am not asking for my money back. I am just trying to evaluate my situation. Thanks!
Hi, the iPad shipped this morning, and the fellow at UPS said you could expect it on Tuesday. The UPS tracking # is: redacted
It's in cherry-mint condition, you might be able to get a little more out of it than $399. I sold it at that price because I needed the money pretty quickly.
Thanks, sorry you have to go through the hassle of reselling!

I see that the cancellation of a transaction may be easier than I thought. http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/cancel-transaction-process.html It is totally up to you. I am OK with whatever you want to do. I don't want to affect you financially or anyone's feedback rating. Thanks.
"i don't want to affect your feedback rating"
thanks for the veiled threat, dudeSorry, I have a no refund policy. I also have $20 wrapped up in shipping, and the final value/listing fees are around $25. I just can't do it, the iPad has already shipped. You should be able to recoup your costs by reselling.

got the strong feeling this guy is gonna try to pull something, so i get on the phone with an ebay rep
based on what i tell him, the ebay rep pretty much says that it sounded like buyer's remorse, and that the other guy can't really do anything until the item arrives, and that if he does they'll regard the claim as highly suspicious based on what he wrote and any judgement would likely fall in my favor since buyer's remorse isn't a legit reason for a return/refund
but he might still be able to freeze the money in my paypal account for a long while, depending on what he does
i am most worried that he'll try to fuck up the ipad in some way and claim that it arrived damaged/not as described, then i am fucked proper - no ipad, no money, hassle with UPS insurance to get reimbursement
the ebay guy keeps talking, and i am starting to notice he is hinting that i should just give this dude his money back, shit like "it seems like you pride yourself on taking care of your customers, so if you go this route you'll be refunded any fees..."
he is basically telling me i can't really win even though i am in the right

hopefully the guy will suck it up, and relist it - but it has been my experience that when given the choice between doing the right, harder thing, or taking the easier, "fuck the other guy" route, the vast majority of folks choose the easy route
i will fight it as much as i can, though, i could have sold that ipad to someone who really wanted it
