that would be not only be incredibly stupid

why would it be stupid?

because Chell's character is a mute who would add nothing to the Half Life universe?

reading older posts in this thread, and man I had to LOL/comment on this.

Gordon Freeman's character is a mute who adds nothing to Half Life universe. You could be controlling a dirty toilet with arms and a crowbar who works at a research facility, and be none the wiser.

Isn't he just a lab technician in the first one? It always struck me as strange that he's greeted as a savior in HL2, when only the man in black knew about his role in the first installment.

hl2 doesn't have a good story, gordon freeman isn't a good character any more than a goatee is a good person. Just a series of well tested shooting segments with lots of novel little twists here and there dragged down by needless exposition.

Portal 2 suffered a lot of the same missteps that HL2 did, in that they added far too much narrative and flashy stuff. running through rooms puzzlin with the occasional joke over the PA was a better formula. Should have just cranked the difficulty up to 11 for the runback. co-op stuff was real great tho'.

after this game, Valve is feeling more like a circle jerk that I'm not involved in.  then again, i think i was on reddit too much around Portal 2's release and now know how people felt about Portal 1 after seeing forums get taken over by it hours after its release.

I'm excited for Dota2. never played one of those games and watching videos I can't comprehend how they work. I'm hoping Valve is making a game that has some sort of learning curve to it so I can at least try to get into it to the point where I understand how they work. I'm not that big on team based competitive games, so I doubt I'll stick with it - but maybe I can learn enough to where watching pro streams will be enjoyable.

Nolan North is pretty awesome when he's not playing the same character over and over.
