So... the old nintendo 8-bit
« on: April 06, 2011, 05:53:38 AM »
i just don't see what's the big deal about it,like when i think of the list of the good game on it,i go like  "there was megaman 2 and.... uh.... mmmmm...." every so called nintendo classic on it is so primitive, okay it was 1986 and also i guess super mario bros is cool but the rest is so blaaahhhh, like pick zelda, okay "IT HAS AN OVERWORLD THAT YOU ARE FREE TO EXPLORE" but it also like 2 musics that you hear over and over, dungeons that looks all the same and enemy that do nothing other than roaming around randomly hoping to bump into you

and to this day i'm not sure how anybody could suffer trough old school rpg like dragon quest with their obtuse UI and random encounters rate so horribly high, that they would piss off even a saint

so yea... the gameboy was a better nintendo console than the classic 8-bit nintendo,it had a 2D zelda where you didn't have to burn bushes at random,a mario game where you fought the 3 little pigs and tetris

nothing nothing i just was expecting brandnew, sceneman and emcee to jump on me as soon as i made such a thread :lol

anyway i guess there is also ninja gaiden in the list of cool nes game? but then there is ninja gaiden shadow on the gameboy which is better... man the nes doesn't even have donkey kong 94....

Quote
... Recca, Castlevania 3, Crystalis, Nightshade, Metal Storm, Solar Jet Man, Blaster Master, Rad Gravity, Lone Ranger, Contra Force, Moon Crystal, Crisis Force, Over Horizon, Hitler no Fukkatsu, Biomiracle, Little Samsom, Rescue Rangers, Snake Rattle and Roll, Ny Nyankies, Little Nemo, Gun Dec, Captain Saver, Batman, Star tropics 1 + 2, Guardian Legend, Gunnac, Abodox, etc etc etc.

mmm to be fair it's not like i played a lot of nes game,i know a lot of these game (why hitler no fukkatsu and not just bionic commando? i had to check that!) but the only one i tried to seriously dabble with was castlevania but the point is nothing of what i played ever clicked with me

like bear with me for a second

i don't see "awesome enemy placement! strategy! excitement!" to me castlevania is just a "eh....." action game

but i have tried to make a serious effort into playing some games like the first castlevania and ninja gaiden,i think i stopped at the mummy boss with castlevania?

Had to look up "NY Nyankees"... was surprised that it was Rockin Kats, I remember borrowing that from my neighbor. Never realized that that game was probably the first ever Atlus game I played.

I love 8 bit Nintendo: Mega Man 1-6 (especially 3), Balloon Fight, Mario, Zelda, Life Force, Ninja Gaiden 2, the good version of FF3, Contra, Super C, Castlevania 3, Jackal, StarTropics, Power Blade, Metal Storm, Lolo, DuckTales, Rescue Rangers, Darkwing Duck, Goonies II, Battletoads, Kickle Cubicle, Totally Rad, Shadow of the Ninja, Guardian Legend, Crystalis, Radia Senki, , DQ3/4, and of course :bow :bow :bow WRECKING CREW :bow2 :bow2 :bow2

i just don't see what's the big deal with so many nes classic, even if i didn't play them that much, what little i played didn't really impress me

like maybe i should have made the thread less antagonistic (it wouldn't have been as much as fun tough :smug) and just clearly went with "why the fuck, you like classic castlevania/contra so much? i don't think it's that good"

Fun system.  I find myself liking Capcom and Konami's offerings more than Nintendo's.  Although SMB3 and Kirby's Adventure were high points as well.

Not really, just seems pointless. It's a GAF thread. Like "I watched Blade Runner the other day, it sucked, explain please". Yeah, big deal, you watched a movie/played a game/read a book that's well-liked and older than the hills.

and growing up there was proabably about 4 NES units in circulation in New Zealand. We were Sega country. Everyone had a Master System

Films age far better than games, people that don't understand Blade Runner  :-\. NES was solid for it's time but unlike SNES and Genesis without nostalgia the games have aged terribly*. However if Magus was a little older and started with weeaboo NES games instead of starting on PS1 he wouldn't be making this thread.

*Not saying that some Snes/Genesis and later consoles games haven't aged badly, but on the whole I find games on SNES/Genesis and later consoles more manageable then again, I didn't really like games till I got a Mega Drive/Genesis so it might just be nostalgia talking.

see, like the c64 had a lot of games that were good for their times that didn't age well but you don't see the same amount of people talking about "THE GENIUS OF PARADROID" like they do for classic zelda and swinging their flag when 25th year anniversary happens,or complaining that igavania isn't like classic castlevania, like nes games are situated in a special magical awesome bubble

maybe i should have adhered to that fanboy/penguin rule before making this thread

I have never played C64 apart from The Last Ninja on the Virtual Console (and didn't like it). Where is a good place to start?

i always tought that paradroid was an infinite game like pacman or tetris? i wonder if youtube holds the answer.....

yes,the snes is awesome like here's another thing that bothers me..... i played super punch out and it's a good game and it's way better than the original punch out but the original is the one that is HOLY and that gets remade in 3D,while the sequel is "that sequel"

The NES is a classic system with a fuck-ton of great games.  You missed out, Magus.

I think it aged better than the SNES did, too-- a lot of SNES games just feel slow nowadays.  Need that BLAST PROCESSING lolol.

Two of my favorite NES games [aside from the obvious ones like Zelda or Mario] were Guardian Legend and Rygar. Rygar, because it was such a fun arcade action game and Guardian Legend because it was a really interesting blend of Zelda-style exploration and sidescrolling space-shooting. Those two just really stood out to me.

They both had awesome music too:

When are you going to be real with yourself dawg.  You talk about how much nintendo sucks all the time, unprovoked.  You used to make wii threads where you made one post after another about how much you 'hated' the game you were pouring hours into.  Its obvious that you probably like Nintendo stuff much much more than you let on- but since that won't get you e cred here - you and santa c make these unneccessary threads to 'fit in'.  Its a goddamn tame lame gaf splinter forum, you're trying too hard and it makes me irked. So irked.

You know what would convince me otherwise? Apathy.  You're certainly not apathetic enough for me to mistake you for being genuine.

ehy demi will you let me see pic of you naked if i tell the board i don't like another nintendo game? :-[

i like some nintendo games and i don't like some of them,i owned a wii because i didn't want to spend 599$ on a HD console and ehy it was fun for the first few years, things just went downhill later, which is the whole reason i decided to get myself a 360 and i like to spew opinions whetever they are distinguished mentally-challenged or not (i mean i tought the whole point of a forum was that) so why i should just be apathethic about it?

what provoked to make this thread? i already said it the previous page

"OH HOW AWESOME IS CASTLEVANIA,BUT IGAVANIA? THAT SUCKS!" i just don't get how these people think,i don't see what makes the original castlevania different than any other sidescroller, nor how could anybody could says with a serious face that "CONSOLE GAMING WOULDN'T EXIST IF NOT FOR SUPER MARIO BROS!!!" i don't even see how that counts as "AN ATTACK ON NINTENDO" since last time i checked castlevania was a konami game ???
