Looks like they took even more of the RPG elements out of Mass Effect 3.

Rage?

A 2011 title. Prey 2 isn't.

Eh? Isn't it using the engine?

Looks like ass.

It's using some sort of id tech engine, but it's not confirmed as being id tech 5.

I want to see how it will play.  New previews sound like first person Assassin's Creed in an alien city. Definitely more excited about this direction than I would have been about a follow up to the first game.

I had no idea this existed.  I picked up Prey cheap and found it pretty enjoyable, it's be cool if they expanded the game universe a bit.

Sounds shit. What was good about the first one was that it was a throwback to 90s first person shooters. At least we're getting Duke Nukem Forever, I guess.

I didn't mind the first. I kinda liked it but I much prefer the direction this one sounds like its going. Red Dead Redemption in space and sci-fi is something I can get behind. Of course we'll see if they can deliver something of that quality.

Really like the look of the game, gameplay sounds pretty fun too. Some of the combat in the game didn't look too hot, and the constant highlighting was kind of awkward, but I'm definitely interested.

id needs to finish up Rage so people can start using idTech5.

Although it's still pretty amazing how good idTech4 can look.

id isn't doing licenses for that, though.

They aren't licensing it out to third-parties, but Zenimax will be using it in-house.

That's not that great. Especially since Bethesda wont be using it anytime this generation if ever. Not to mention that anyone that does use idTech5 has to be an AAA group because frankly, Zenimax has published some pretty bad and incomplete games.

I just want Prey 2 on the idTech5 engine.

From what they've said about it so far, it sounds like they took the basic concept of the Elder Scrolls games and transplanted that into a scifi FPS. Basically just running around finding things to do and tackling the main narrative when you feel like it.

Yeah, definitely. I'd much rather had a great singleplayer experience with no multiplayer, than a game with some tacked on multiplayer that takes resources away from everything else.

More likely they got burned pretty badly on those games and would rather not have that happen again. Tightening belts and so on.

And RAGE was fun, so shut up.

I really don't think they have enough time to completely overhaul the game into something else, but I do think that the team got in over their heads and tried to do something too ambitious.

Hopefully we'll know more come QuakeCon in August.

from what I remember, what was shown was pretty much all they had. a lot of scripted events and nothing else. enough to make for a pretty demo but not a full game.
