It's funny because I don't recall the 360 ever being completely shut off for people for over 5 days. Even during the Christmas of 2007, I could still play COD4, it was just super laggy and I'd get disconnected a lot.

it was completely shut donw you couldnt do anything, nice revisinist histroy xbot  ::) ::) ::)

Where the hell are you getting that "build from scratch" crap from? The link only confirms that they're "working on it."

"Our efforts to resolve this matter involve re-building our system to further strengthen our network infrastructure" does not mean what you think it means.

That's how I interpreted it. Re-build in coding usually implies building from the ground up.

If you're coding, re-building means more than simply changing a few lines. It means changing the entire structure.

Yes,  let's not get this thing up and running asap so people can play their games online. Instead, let's take this opportunity to extend the downtime and re-build and redesign psn from the ground up. :lol

I'm no apologist, but it makes sense if not rebuilding it meant this could happen again in future. Taking the hit now and making it more future proof sounds like the best plan. Of course the best thing would be for them to develop the new system in tandem then roll it out quickly and quietly. But who knows how bad they got hit (or if they suffered from an 'intrusion' at all) maybe they have no choice but to rebuild.

I'm just bummed that my minutes played in Portal 2 PS3 aren't being reflected on my steam account because PSN is down :(

That's about the only thing that's affected me since it went down.  It's not like I play online on ps3 anyhow.

They're not rebuilding jack. All they are doing is putting in extra security features in place to stop whatever occurred from occurring again.

PSN being down sucks for those that want to play online but in the grand scheme of things its not that big a deal. Although as always its nice to see sonybots have to spin for their console again.

I haven't had a problem. After you try to sign and it can't, just cancel out and the movie should start up.

I tried that and several other things.  It would begin the process and go "LOL NOPE" and kick me out.  I haven't used netflix on my ps3 in a long time, so maybe I didn't have the latest version.  I ended up just using the 360 version and it made me download something and I had to go through the linking process again.  And all to watch Salt.  Then I realized I was trying to watch Salt and turned it off.
