For whatever reason Fox was the closest news channel to whatever I was watching when the news broke and Geraldo was the first thing I came across. As happy as I was to see Bin Laden dead even I couldn't stomach the fox brand of cheerleading Geraldo was doing. He was two seconds away from just pulling it out and masturbating on live TV. 9/11: in between 10th grade classes at my DC-area high school.  A friend of mine came to my classroom door and said, "Hey, we're leaving.  We're going into DC to hunt terrorists."  I picked up my bags but my chemistry teacher stopped me.  He said we had more important things to do and didn't even let us watch TV.

OBL: Ironically enough, at the end of a field exercise prepping to deploy to Afghanistan.  Over the loud speaker where they announce simulated rocket attacks they said something like, "This is not a drill.  Osama bin Laden has been killed."  There were a couple cheers but it was actually pretty anti-climatic.
