You've heard the rumors; now get the facts. Ezio's final chapter will bring the answers that fans have been waiting four years to uncover.

The June issue of Game Informer is on its way, and Assassin's Creed Revelations will grace the cover. Our exclusive, first look, 12-page cover story reveals extensive details on the franchise's next major installment, due out this November.

You'll learn how each of the franchise's major characters -- Altaïr, Ezio, and Desmond -- play a part in the story, and how you'll control each of the three as playable characters. Uncover a brand new part of the world as Ezio travels abroad for the first time to explore the wonders of Constantinople at the height of the Ottoman Empire. Learn about all the new features that set Revelations apart, from a brand new weapon and tool that changes the way you'll fight and traverse the world, to extensive details on the newly customizable multiplayer game. And what exactly is going on with Desmond after the end of Brotherhood? Of course, we also have a wealth of new screens and art to accompany all the information. We unveil all this and more in our magazine cover story, and we'll have more in-depth information, interviews, and videos about the game's central features here on gameinformer.com throughout the month.

So sick of Ezio;  I'd rather have had Altier Brotherhood spinoff than this Ezio/Altier re-using old cities AGAIN mashup.

This reeks of cheap filler until AC3 and unfortunately I will probably play it :(

Brotherhood was ok, it definitely had some gameplay improvements although hindered by some bad design choices (the borgia towers that you couldn't reach until certain chapters for example).  But most of all it was a totally unnecessary game, and this will be another.

When AC3 rolls around with a new ancestor in a new location, I'll get back on the hype train.

Might as well go with futuristic/modern day setting.

- The bulk of the game is set in Constantinople which will be split into 4 huge districts (Constantin, Beyazid, Imperial and Galata)
- You'll also visit Cappadocia
- Ezio is over 50 years old in this game
- Ezio has a new item called the hookblade which allows him to use ziplines throughout the city. UBI says that it speeds up navigation by about 30%
- You can also use the hookblade to reach out and pull enemies in for a combo
- Ezio can now make bombs through a crafting system. UBI says that there are over 300 bomb types
- They've modified the control scheme so that circle/B will control the hookblade and triangle/Y will control project weapons and bombs
- Eagles vision has become eagle sense. "Eagle sense let's you focus on a character and see where he's been," Amancio says. "You'll get an approximation of where he will go. If you're able to detect the path a guard will take, you can run ahead, set a bomb, and create a trap or an ambush."
- They've expanded on the Borgia Towers concept in order to create a new system. Throughout the city there are Assassin's Den's, you'll need to complete various assault scenarios in order take down the Templar presence (UBI says that there's more variety than in the Borgia Towers). Once you obtain a den you'll be able to upgrade the buildings in that region along with adding ziplines across the rooftops. You'll also be able to change the guards from being hostile to neutral.
- You can lose control of you dens as you gain notoriety. You'll be able to send your own troops after the templars if you're unable to make it back to the specific den that's being attacked. You can do that by making it to any of the other dens that you currently control. You'll also be able to install a master assassin to control a specific den and you'll never have to worry about it being taken over.
- The assassin leveling mechanic has been increased from 10 to 15
- In order to make the world more immersive they've done away with traditional side missions in favor of random events. For example you may be traveling through a city and notice a shop owner being robbed or a little girl asking for help
- They're using a new type of capture facial technology called Mocam that GI describes as an "intriguing amalgamation of traditional animation, performance capture and the fascinating new style of performance on display in games like LA Noire."
- Desmond is placed back inside Animus where he finds a safe mode called the 'Black Room'. You'll be able to access Desmond's lost memories through that back door
- The gameplay during Desmond's game is described as narrative-fueled puzzle sequences. "Through the manipulation and creation of geometry with the game world, Desmond seeks to reintegrate the splintered layers of his subconscious."
- Multiplayer is returning but this time they're trying to give more focus to the narrative since that's a big part of AC
- You'll be able to custom your character appearance and weapons as well as create guilds.

If u care about story play them in order. But it might tarnish if you want to continue because 1 is really boring.

Otherwise I'd just jump to 2.

In general, all games are exactly the same. This honestly is a game to be played for story...

AC2 has been fun enough.  I need to finish it up.  I have Brotherhood but only messed with multiplayer.  At this point I may just sell it off and wait for Revelations instead.

the first has good ideas but the structure is boring and repetitive.

assassin's creed 2 mostly makes good use of the first game's strengths and eliminates the weaknesses.  the only strengths that don't carry over are the slower pace and brutality.

World War II era (or even Russian Revolution) would be cool, but I'm sure people would be all "OMG SABOTEUR RIPOFF AMIRITE."

Might as well go with futuristic/modern day setting.

No-one would say this, because no-one bought it. And people who did buy it would not make the association because the AC free-running/climbing mechanic is so much more intuitive and smoothly implemented that it doesn't qualify as the same. ;-)

Seriously though, why China?

I can see it being really great, but with all the dev biz Ubi does in Sino-land, I can only imagine it would be a constant risk to avoid pissing off the powers-that-be.

I think China has a rich history with a bunch of badass moments that they could replicate. Mix in amazing vistas and landscapes and you got omg. The question should be why not China? There are multiple points in Chinese history where the nation is split into three and even five kingdoms warring with one another for who controls the emperor's seat that last decades. Chinese history is vast and fucking amazing. Far more interesting than middle eastern history, which I got enough of during my ALLAHU ACKBAR period.

Throw in some Chinese folklore crap like running on trees and omg.

Persia (Iran), Native American (Azteca plz), Meiji era Japan, Greece, and fucking EGYPT would be equally awesome ideas. Basically, antiquity owns.

The historic period which would be both funny and sad would be the birth of America period. There wouldn't be any settlements larger than the smallest one in AC2, a bunch of four-street towns. And they'd all be surrounded by those same rolling hills.  :-\

Then again, the cityscape shown in Gangs of New York wouldn't look out of place in an Assassin's Creed game. Hm...

thats pushing it. You could argue that it's flaws make it a repetitive, unenjoyable game, yes. But awful? No way. When it was released it was one of the best looking games on 360, which was pretty cool because I was fairly green to the whole HD thing at the time.

It's not much of an exaggeration to claim AC1 is boring, and it's inarguable that it's repetitive. What I can't completely suss is why AC2 feels so different than the original. I really enjoyed myself at every step.

I also enjoyed that, unlike the original AC2 actually KEPT BEING A STEALTH ASSASSIN GAME for its final mission, and used all the skills it had taught the player, rather than "fight these 30 guys. now fight these 50 guys..."

I'm stunned. I was bored halfway through AC1 but finished it just because. AC2, I didn't want it to end. I really enjoyed it. Most people I've spoken with are the same. Most have said that Brotherhood is even better.

I think there have been others who agree at least partially.  Maybe Prole or Mups, I can't really remember.  AC2 was just so long and drawn out and I never knew why I was killing anyone.  At least in AC1 I knew what I was doing - assassinate 7 dudes.  Done.

It was new and fresh and sucked me in.

I agree.  AC1 >>>>>>>>> AC2  I never wanted AC1 to end.  Jumping around buildings and slaughtering guards.  One of my biggest problems with AC2 was that you can't really just walk around anymore and fuck with people.  Now with the wanted posters you're always spotted and end up taking to the rooftops.  I used to love just walking the city in AC1 and exploring throwing beggars around, etc.

It's just another teaser.  AC2 already had a nice teaser ending.  Brotherhood needs more wicked alien shit going on.  All it seems to have is another alien god yelling at you, and uh, subject 16, and nothing that revealing.

I'm going to play brotherhood eventually, but I'll probably end up playing Revelations before it.  main reason I passed on brotherhood was how similar it looked to AC2.  Revelations is at least a different location.

I bought this game on Black Friday and started playing it.  I played for like an hour or two and it all seemed to be mission/level oriented and not a free roam game.  At what point does it let me free to actually play?  And man, I must have missed something substantial in Brotherhood.
