whats some cool things to do with a rooted android

a friend at work just rooted my first gen android and i'm trying to see what kind of things i can do with it. of course i can get all these apps for free but what kind of cool things can i do now?

It's all open source, so apart from piracy and flashing your phone with custom roms theirs not that much to be gained afaik. You can (on every model? Or most at least) run unsigned code on your Android phone, so it's not like iPhone where you need a jailbreak to run homebrew
