I'm looking for a small pc, or a ssf setup, pre-built, that I could use to ssh straight into it from work or from my ipad or iphone. Anyone got interesting links? the smaller the better, and a network connection is required, obviously  :-\

How about a netbook? Older ones are basically a dime a dozen nowadays, they're small and low-power and some even come with a somewhat crippled Linux pre-installed.

Just an idea. Not that I'd know.

I also seem to remember dell putting out some sff boxes, sometimes even complete with Linux (redhat?). Also apple with its small server thing, which is quite costly, but hey, apple.

What for? Just to be a file box? Why not get a NAS instead?

Get a SheevaPlug. Only $99 and sounds like exactly what you're looking for.
