Why do people call PS1, PSX? I thought that was just the experimental name and this was the PSX

You couldn't call it the PS1 until the PS2 came out, and game console really need popular abbreviations with at least three letters to feel right. Why do you think the Saturn and the DC bombed?

^true.  Gamecube was oddly GCN (Gamecube Nintendo...what)

and I think all games hold up fine if you temper your expectations.  I was playing floating runner a few weeks back and it was totally the same as when it released  :-X

actually just looked at my psx collection and not many of the 3d games have held up all that well...

oscar owned

only an idiot would deny that the ps1 was an rpg powerhouse.  thing is plenty of the other genres, especially action games (my personal fav), suffered heavily in the transition from 2d to 3d and that along with the weak hardware meant that we didn't get to see a lot of great ideas fully realized until the ps2 era.  i couldn't tell you how many times i got frustrated during the ps1 era because it was so hard to find a great fast-paced game that wasn't bogged down by loading, story, clumsy menus, etc...

.....FUD

:lol Only thing that post demonstrated was the modern weeaboos ignorance

:lol i was about to say

the shit i described was the norm back in the day.  games nowadays still play similar to what they did when developers moved to 3d, but they've made HUGE improvements over everything i described, making games more streamlined and thus more fun.

of course a weeaboo might not notice this because they spend all their time playing games from devs that are stuck in the past gen

Like Oscar said, you had to fall back on 'weeaboo' insults to try to mitigate the damage from my awesome ether. Making games more streamlined != more fun either, have you heard of PC gamers and them complaining how everything is so simplified and watered-down nowadays? And those people are as far from 'weeaboo' as you can get.

ether my anus.  you cherry-picked a few exceptions without actually refuting my points.  i cried weeaboo because they would be less aware that the rest of the world has moved on from previous-gen jankyness

Like PT said, your examples sucked, they didn't even make sense. Your post was obviously a bad joke though, so why are you defending it? I never said 'lol weeaboo'. I said (if your post was serious) it was only indicative of your ignorance, the weeaboo part was true though right? I mean you're like the definition of a weeaboo (at least when it comes to your taste in games)

Things are heating up in this thread. Let's not say things we'll regret in the morning. I think you're all equally beautiful.

Used to confuse me is all

PSX was either a proposed name for the console, or it was a contraction of the codename for it. I guess when it came time to make the DVR/PS2 hybrid, the letter X was having its day in the sun and so they brought it out again.

I really liked my PSX; it did a lot of stuff very well. It's sad that Sony never got their marketing message right.
