To summarize every bit of good news to come from E3:

- King of Fighters XIII PS3/360 ports
- New Trials game for XBLA
- Dark Souls looks immaculate
- PS Vita price, Wipeout 2048, Shinobido 2
- Rayman Origins looks awesome
- Remakes and HD ports of games I've already played on the PS2 or Xbox

Modern gaming is awful.

Don't forget that Final Fantasy XIII-2 is awesome.

Has anyone played EDF Insect Armaggedon on the floor? Binary Domain?

Capcom just won E3. It's not like they had any competition, but they just showed a bunch of awesome trailer back to back. Dragon's Dogma looks HOT.

SF3 online out this summer apparently. That's the big happening news you should all take away from this. stop being gay about "potential" from new hardware. that's for gay people.

I just held the WiiU controller. Wow it's big. Traditional games on this are going to hurt your hands something awful.

Played Dead Island. It has a Borderlands style skill tree which is awesome. Kind of like Far Cry plus zombies, open world and very nice graphics. I also raided a trash can and got deodorant to use in the crafting system :lol I will definitely buy this one.

Binary Domain looks TERRIBLE. Incredibad Gears clone.

I don't think anyone has given a rat's ass about Twisted Metal since 1997.

I think Sony won the show.  The Vita being $249 should make Nintendo feel embarrassed about their underpowered POS handheld costing the same amount.  Sony has an uphill battle but the 3DS performance is anemic to the point where Sony can squeeze off what little momentum there is for the 3DS if they play their cards right.  TBH, I kind of expected them to half ass their non-Japan side of things, given how the PSP turned out, but with that price point, I'm glad Sony is being as aggressive as they are.

Nintendo is up next.  We all knew that the 3DS would see yet another Mario, Mario Kart, etc. but these round of games look pretty good.  The Wii U is a stupid ass name but some of the initial information looks decent for a stopgap HD console.  Nintendo has finally stumbled out of the dark age of gimmickry uber alles.  Good for them.

Microsoft is last.  The 360 is deader than dead.  If you're not a Kinect fanatic, I don't really see how anyone could be hyped up about what is in store.  I'm not gonna lie - I think that the Halo remake would be interesting.  I kind of like to think that Microsoft has given up on the 360 and are secretly hard at work on developing interesting Xbox 3 titles.  Which seems kind of dumb considering the second wind they've received.  Bad show from these people.

I bought Twisted Metal on the PSP when it first came out and mannn, its like an awful Mario Kart. I'd rather be playing a FPS with that sort of arena matchups instead of cars.

I'm pretty happy with this E3

-I was surprised by Far Cry 3, FC2 was cool if flawed and this looks hot so I'm in
-Dark Souls looks like Demon's Souls. Maybe a bit better i dunno, gotg most likely
-Vita is SO hawwwwt, cross play, transfarring :bow2 but I'm really not into the touch screen twaddle shown so far except maybe in menus and stuff. But in gameplay shown, it seems gimmicky and unimportant, replacing buttons where they don't need replacing. Gimmicky crap ain't gonna impress anyone
-Skyrim :drool
-Wipeout 2048, with cross play :bow2
-Nintendo and MS  :lol  ;)
-Trackmania 2 is interesting
-XIII-2 looks like the same old shit but it has branching paths and NPC's so Himu is cumming
-I'm actually pretty interested in Zelda SS now
-Arkham City is gonna be sweeet
-SR3
-Uncharted 3, Rayman Origins, From Dust :heartbeat

Eric Chahi demoed From Dust for me!!! It was doing a lot of cool dynamic terrain and fluid dynamics.

Far Cry 3, Prey 2, Shinobido 2 are the best new things.  Seeing more of games I really want is nice.  I'm somehow even more excited for Zelda Skyward Sword and Arkham City.

for conferences,

Microsoft:  couldn't make it through this.  Saw some announcements; everything kinect is garbage, halo 4 teaser...ok

Sony:  pretty much everything ps3 related was dull; can't believe there were Move stage demos.  Vita showcase was disappointingly the same stuff from the unveil.  Still, Vita looks awesome and the price is killer.  As a whole, boring stuff.

Nintendo:  nothing for wii.  nothing for 3ds.  new console is interesting/neat for nintendo hardware, but a lot of bad decisions already.  overall, boring stuff.

All three conferences were ambien.  Sony needed to show more of the Vita, or at least some worthwhile PS3 games.  The WiiU reveal was fine, but Nintendo really needed to show software for the 3DS; really shows no faith in the product when the sole new game is Luigi's Mansion 2.  Microsoft.....I really don't know.

So Microsoft is in hibernation mode? 'Dat cross platform Windows feature :teehee

Its funny, this year is supposed to be sick in regards to game releases but that wasn't really conveyed in the three major conferences. Guess next year will be the big one (hinting or revealing new hardware from Microsoft and/or Sony?). I guess it was the lack of future vision that was a bore at this E3.

I will go against the grain and say that this E3 is one of the best ever.Tons and tons of games everywhere, for anyone(except weeaboos and nintendo fans, but who cares about them  :smug)

People are bitching about new IPs,but what happens when something new comes out...rental rental meh meh and everybody flocks to the some sequel

New IPs are in the same league as innovation...most overrated thing ever
Square wheels car-- :omg innovation

MS
-tons of cool Kinect family stuff, optional Kinect stuff in core games(Ryse supports controller)
-huge "core" games...MW3,Tomb Raider,Gears 3,ME3,Ghost Recon,Halo :hyper
-tons of under the hood Kinect,Live improvements
-Forza 4 looks and sounds fucking great

Sony
didn't watch the whole thing, just Vita stuff but
-Uncharted 3,Resistance 3,Sly 4,Bioshock,etc...great stuff
-PS Vita price :omg

PSN was totally neglected though
-no PSN improvements
-PS Vita cross game chat, but nothing for PS3

Nintendo
-Wii U sounds like some Wii addon
-3DS stuff
-Wii doesn't exist anymore

The biggest disappointment to me

PS Vita third party(west) support--nothing at all at biggest consumer show, nothing
Not even some shitty COD port footage, for a device that has been in dev hands for like 2 years...disaster
Amazing price, tech but that device is not for me :(

Third party is obviously ruling the show, there is so much quality third party stuff that it wouldn't fit in 24 hour presentation.

Some stuff
Forza 4,amazing stuff

http://e3.gamespot.com/video/6318146/forza-motorsport-4-demonstration?tag=top_stories%3Btitle%3B20

Saints Row 3 is...insane :lol

The biggest surprise is Prey 2,this screams "must play"

In short PS360 fans can look forward to HQ first/third party stuff and Wii fans can count daisies.

Gears 3,Forza 4,Halo CE remake, bunch of XBLA stuff

I don't make distinction between first/second party shit.Anything that has more than one year(week) exclusivity might as well be 10 year exclusive.
I'm certainly not patient when it comes to video games, play it at launch or not play it at all.

But without third party stuff every console would be totally worthless to me...as long as MS provides me with third party stuff that I like, all is fine
Hell,I bought PSP just to play GTA games--i've played lots of other PSP games of course but no GTA,no buy

Halo 4 next year :hyper

I'm not ok with what MS is doing actually but I ain't bitching now, this year they can go all out Kinect because the thing needs some love for whoever bought one.

In box would guarantee dev support from the start.

Mattrick isn't in charge of XBLA. There's another guy, but I forget his name. The only reason I know this is because everyone from shmups.org hated the first guy that was in charge of XBLA because he denied 5pb's Cave ports, but the guy who came after him is clearly competent.

I'll still probably end up playing the majority of the 3rd party stuff on my 360 or PC but as for the direction MS is headed, leave me out.  They have nothing and don't look to be doing anything I remotely care about.  They've become the new Nintendo.  If kinect is going to be a big part of the new xbox, and you know MS won't drop it since they're already balls deep, then I'm probably not going to get one.  Fuck MS.

Sony didn't blow me away with anything but at least they're putting out real games.  Uncharted 3 is enough for me.  As far as Vita is concerned, I'm impressed with the tech and the price but at the end of the day it comes down to how much I'd actually play it and it'll probably end up going into the drawer with all my other portables.  With the iphone/android market being what it is I'm not sure who exactly the Vita is supposed to be for.  I don't want to carry around 3 different devices with me to do 3 different things, that's why I have an iphone. The hardcore gamer probably already has a PS3, so why would I want to play watered down PS3 games on my Vita instead of playing the on my TV?  I don't know, maybe portables just aren't for me but I can't really see this being all that successful even with all the shit Sony is packing into the thing at $250.

And I laughed my ass off at Nintendo's conference but when I started to see some of the demos and read the hands on with the Wii U, I've come around.  I'm actually looking forward to a Nintendo system....I can't remember the last time I could say that but I would like to see an actual game running on the Wii U instead of a PC/360/PS3 demo real.

So if I had to rank 'em.....

1) Sony
2) Nintendo
.
.
.
.
99) AIDS
100) MS

But surely that guy has to answer to Mattrick in some way. He controls the entire games division.

I'm sure he approves all of the plans or something, but he's not directly calling the shots, is my point. As long as the XBLA guy remains profitable, he probably won't interfere.

According to Gibeau: “In general we’re going to continue to follow our rotation strategy of giving studios a full two-year cycle to get a game built and polished to maximum quality, but we’re going to do it in a way that allows us to maximize technology investments like Frostbite 2, the online service models that we’re doing… we’re going to be able to trade team knowledge and increase the quality of the products year in, year out,” he said.

“The idea is to have that rotation happen with Battlefield and Medal of Honor and keep it fresh so you don’t burn the teams down or over-annualize the product lines. Titles like Respawn – and I think the Insomniac title is a little bit more of an action game than a pure shooter – we’ll sprinkle those in where we see opportunistic gaps, either in a release schedule or in a genre standpoint.

“Those typically are more sci-fi oriented shooters, where as the Medal of Honor and Battlefield brands are obviously more modern military oriented. So it allows us to pick and choose the best of the sci-fi shooters. It allows us to compete with things like Gears and Halo and put them on places in our release calendar where they’re not cannibalistic to the core business and that’s the essential strategy going forward.”

It has along been the rumor that Respawn’s title for EA Partners was a sci-fi shooter, and Gibeau’s comment pretty much confirms it.

They've been doing this already though.

They will probably alternate between Bad Company and Battlefield #X editions though on the Battlefield years.
