What's with Nintendo? The number of media out for this game is probably the highest they ever did.

Lol.

How quickly people change their tune. :P

Before a sword even enters his hands we've met a uniquely athletic Link... Regions built around volcano ascents and sucking quicksand help rediscover a platforming challenge diminished in Zelda since the addition of the auto-jump.

Nintendo has been so busy elaborating on Ocarina's heroic ideal that it's forgotten to embrace it for itself. So what better way to honour 25 years of bravery than courageously striving for something new? And what opportune hardware to cut those ties? After all, hasn't the Wii hardware spent the past five years searching for the hero inside itself? Firstparty experiments have tested Wii's boundaries, deducing what does and doesn't work. Their findings resonate throughout Skyward Sword. In Wii Sports-powered bomb bowling. In skydiving and swordplay learnt on a Wuhu holiday. In the surreal beauty and orchestrated bombast beamed down from Super Mario Galaxy. In the metallic Metroid chu-chunk of a door lock. Even the opinion-dividing Wii Music is vindicated in subtle moments of auto-tuning cleverness. How apt that this ultimate tale of hero-making should see Nintendo's hardware become the console it was always meant to be.

WII MUSIC VINDICATED

Magus I know we don't often cross paths but I just want to point out that I honestly have no idea what point you're trying to get across half the time.

every big AAA release is always THE GREATEST GAME EVER,perfect in every way with review that seems to be written on the whole point that the game exist and that you should go out and get it right this instant

zelda is still a month away and on the edge site there is a big ad "GUYS THE GAME YOU THINK IT'S SO AWESOME,IT'S REALLY SO AWESOME,GO BUY OUR MAGAZINE AS SOON AS YOU CAN!"

some of that tiny chunk of review is really moronic, wii music is vindicated because this game features autotuning? what the fuck...? i tought we even forgot about that piece of crap but here i am reading about it in a context that makes no sense at all only because this guy want to tell me how magnificent it's zelda and it's just a single paragraph!

i mean does this happen with movie? does roger ebert gets to see the dark knight rises a month before and then tells everybody "5/5 THE GREATEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!"

-> what a videogame reviewer sounds like

i'm sorry guys, everytime i get so annoyed about it and i end up annoying you guys in the process,i guess i should just shut up,roll my eyes and play the fucking game

EDIT: just to hammer the concept

Edge's review's up:

http://www.next-gen.biz/reviews/legend-zelda-skyward-sword-review

I think that's a slightly poorly written article. At least for Edge. They're usually much better.

Why do you have trouble believing the best games of the season are really good?  I mean, they're not all to my tastes and I'm sure they're not all to yours, but is it really that hard to concede they're all pretty freaking great games in their respective series/genres?

well let me put it in this way,do you have any idea from that small paragraph why the reviewer tought the game was so good? i absolutely have no idea, instead i see a disgusting amount of hyperbole

IT'S THE GAME THE WII HAS BEEN WAITING FOR 5 YEARS,turns out i have been playing shit on my wii since 2006

actualy pardon that still doesn't describe how stupid it sounds

Quote
hasn't the Wii hardware spent the past five years searching for the hero inside itself?

if these guys had the same skill into writing poetry we might be seeing a new renaissance might i say
according to ign the story of uncharted 3 isn't just "good" it's "touching" and "blew away" the reviewer do we seriously believe that shit?

Quote
Jesus, I'm telling someone to be less pissed off at the world.  That's how you know you have a problem, Magoose.  This is the drunk that rolled out of the dumpster holding a brown bag full of wild turkey telling you that you have a drinking problem.

ehy i dare you to find someone who was never pissed at videogames for a reason or another!

EDIT:

this is wii sports review
Quote
The Swordplay Showdown mode is a singleplayer romp through tens of opponents, an energetic and magnificent extended battle, with one fairly big problem: the MotionPlus frequently loses its position. The device is somewhat self-righting, gradually sorting itself out over time, but you’ll often find yourself stopping to recalibrate the accessory. The fact that this begins automatically when the game is paused, along with the reminders that pop up telling you to do so, tells its own story.

this is the zelda review just posted
Quote
In the wake of the one-to-one tomfoolery, limiting actual cuts to eight compass points may sound robotic. In action, it is nothing short of revelatory. MotionPlus ably registers your play-acting – its unfaltering fidelity never once let us down – which Skyward Sword translates into the clean strikes you imagine.

so i have to guess that either

1. in 2 years nintendo was able to fix every motion plus problem and now the motion plus works perfectly
2. one of these 2 article's wasn't written under the fumes of ZELDAZELDAZELDAZELDAZELDA

Quote
The victories are ours in a way they could never be with a traditional controller.

Wii Sports = you just waggle! the player that waggle the hardest win!
Zelda = THE VICTORIES ARE OURS IN A WAY THEY COULD NEVER BE WITH A TRADITIONAL CONTROLLER!

why?seems pretty simple to me

All those games are sequels to good games and this gen is coming to an end, meaning that devs fully understand the hardware, production pipelines are at maximum and they have a good ground to build upon---none of those games deviate too much from the tested formula.

frankly,if those games are not good then fuck this lame industry

As for reviews, you can't beat the hype machine,no point in getting upset over that.Play the game and forget about this money driven business.

i know but it still make me pissed each time,i can't help it

Magoose, as it turns out, Edge is a magazine that has to sell to people.  As such, they tend to embellish their writing somewhat to make it more interesting to read.  I'm sure Magoose Moneyless Merriment Monthly would absolutely destroy Edge in sales with its pithy reviews in the form of "this game is good, but it could be more good, but it's still good" and "the graphics look good, but the sound does not sound as good", so by all means, go get 'em, tigoose.

ehy what you describe it's the treatment,a B (C?) rate game like kirby gets on IGN

Quote
In terms of graphics and sound, don't get too excited. By and large, Return to Dreamland features very basic artistic design and complexity. That does make a considerable amount of sense considering the title first started development on the GameCube. By Wii standards, however, there isn't much here that will impress you.

no touching story or triumphs here, game got a 7.5 for comparison kirby epic yarn, the long awaited return of kirby on console got a 9.0

edit: nvm

edit 2: If what you're complaining about is how uninformative reviews can be when they're praising a game, I totally understand. But it's actually a bit difficult to write about a game you like without it sounding like a love letter in some respect. They could do a better job, especially for people that get paid to do it.

However, these games don't get high scores without reason. They usually have an incredible amount of polish, or at least a bar of quality reached across all areas of the game. So, maybe not all of GTAIV's parts are the best this gen, but each element of the game reaches a certain standard and as a whole it's an impressive feat. Just Cause 2 is much more focused, and that's good too but it has the potential to limit the appeal of the game, and often does.

I know it's hard for you to understand magus, but nobody in video games cares about what you care about. Get used to it, and be thankful when we are fed the scraps. That, or start enjoying the mainstream stuff.

if the motion+ goes occasionaly out of sync and sometimes just act weird, the reviewer can and should tell me either if the game is called wii casual wagglefest sports resort or zelda:the holy ipsword, these guys are supposed to be critic and most of the time they sound like a gamefaq user

after twilight princess i'll be surprised if this game doesn't feature a boring ass hour long intro where link doesn't have to herd some bird or send some mail but if it does, trust me that no review will make mention of it

apparently a new german review gave a lot of details,i'm putting this in spoiler for you sissy who are all like "OMG SPOILER" this and "OMG SPOILER" that

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Quote
- Skyward Sword taking place before Ocarina of Time is confirmed late in the game
- Link wakes up after hearing a strange voice say,"The time has come for you, the chosen one. Awaken!"
- the receiving of the Skyward Sword is mimicked exactly through the player's movements
- Skyloft and the Earth Realm are separated through a holy seal that you and your loftwing can't break
- the goddess creates a portal, a green glowing pillar of light to link the two worlds
- the first place you travel to below the clouds is the Seal Grove
- Link can carry a back-up shield incase one breaks
- Link also keeps an item stash in Skyloft
- The blacksmith will repair your shield for 10 rupees
- in this German review, locations like the Cave Sanctuary and Vulcan Temple are mentioned, but these may just be different names for temples we know of
- the beetle can be upgraded with a grappling arm that allows you to use the "Thorn plant" (bomb)
- you can drop thorn plant bombs onto enemies or into cups to activate mechinisms
- Earth Realm is divided into three main parts
- these are not connected areas, but separate parts of the map
- visit Bamboo Island to break the record in bamboo slashing
- deliver hot soup to a swordmaster in a race against the clock
- travel across the whole world looking for "Jewels of Compassion" (crystallized human gratitude) to help a demon with his transformation into a human
- after about 15 hours, all three areas should be cleared
- That's when the plot takes a serious twist that isn't revealed
- second half of the game has you looking for three "Divine Flames" to forge your sword
- explore a second, previously unreachable area in each of the three main areas, thanks to the harp
- this also gives you access to a test in each of the areas
- sneak through a location like in Phantom Hourglass
- collect tears in the soul jar
- complete the test to grab a scale of the water dragon, whichgives you access to the new part of the area
- this allows you to visit Lake Floria in the Faron Woods
- these tests mean retracting steps through several dungeons
- the divine water dragon Faron will give you access to the 4th temple if you give him a bottle of holy water first
- this involves another trip to the Skyview Temple, where different puzzles and new enemies are waiting for you
- dialog options don't seem to really change what happens in the story
- spot pedestrians in Skyloft or the creatures of the Earth Realm (like the wood dwellers known as the Kikwi) that have information relevant to the plot by the thought bubbles over their heads
- the Tower of Light at Skyloft lets you view the whole town
- the reviewer finished up in about 40 hours
[close]

this part here kinda makes me worried

Quote
- sneak through a location like in Phantom Hourglass
- collect tears in the soul jar

are they really adding the worst bit of phantom hourglass to the worst bit of twilight princess? cause that's some pretty major fuckup

Nintendo fans love Link more than their own children - seems so.

I'm still mad that I'll have to buy a M+ sensor, though. Fucking jewtendo.

If its longer than 30 seconds it aint an ad.   More like promotional material for a website.  The real ad will be some early 20s dude slashing his way through a cg hyrule with the motionplus wiimote.  Book it.

The thing about the motion+ is that this is literally the only game worth playing that requires one. I'll still buy it after the game's confirmed to work perfectly on Dolphin tho.
