Before a sword even enters his hands we've met a uniquely athletic Link... Regions built around volcano ascents and sucking quicksand help rediscover a platforming challenge diminished in Zelda since the addition of the auto-jump.

Nintendo has been so busy elaborating on Ocarina's heroic ideal that it's forgotten to embrace it for itself. So what better way to honour 25 years of bravery than courageously striving for something new? And what opportune hardware to cut those ties? After all, hasn't the Wii hardware spent the past five years searching for the hero inside itself? Firstparty experiments have tested Wii's boundaries, deducing what does and doesn't work. Their findings resonate throughout Skyward Sword. In Wii Sports-powered bomb bowling. In skydiving and swordplay learnt on a Wuhu holiday. In the surreal beauty and orchestrated bombast beamed down from Super Mario Galaxy. In the metallic Metroid chu-chunk of a door lock. some of that tiny chunk of review is really moronic,wii music is vindicated because this game features autotuning? what the fuck...? i tought we even forgot about that piece of crap but here i am reading about it in a context that makes no sense at all only because this guy want to tell me how magnificent it's zelda and it's just a single paragraph!

i mean does this happen with movie? does roger ebert gets to see the dark knight rises a month before and then tells everybody "5/5 THE GREATEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY LIFE!"

i have an hard time believing that batman AC,dark souls,uncharted 3 (especialy uncharted 3),zelda and heck,let's just preventively throw skyrim in the mix are all "just really good"

why?seems pretty simple to me

All those games are sequels to good games and this gen is coming to an end,meaning that devs fully understand the hardware,production pipelines are at maximum and they have a good ground to build upon---none of those games deviate too much from the tested formula.

frankly,if those games are not good then fuck this lame industry

As for reviews,you can't beat the hype machine,no point in getting upset over that.Play the game and forget about this money driven business.

edit 2: If what you're complaining about is how uninformative reviews can be when they're praising a game, I totally understand. But it's actually a bit difficult to write about a game you like without it sounding like a love letter in some respect. They could do a better job, especially for people that get paid to do it.

However, these games don't get high scores without reason. They usually have an incredible amount of polish, or at least a bar of quality reached across all areas of the game. So, maybe not all of GTAIV's parts are the best this gen, but each element of the game reaches a certain standard and as a whole it's an impressive feat. Just Cause 2 is much more focused, and that's good too but it has the potential to limit the appeal of the game, and often does.

I know it's hard for you to understand magus, but nobody in video games cares about what you care about. Get used to it, and be thankful when we are fed the scraps. That, or start enjoying the mainstream stuff.

if the motion+ goes occasionaly out of sync and sometimes just act weird,the reviewer can and should tell me either if the game is called wii casual wagglefest sports resort or zelda:the holy ipsword,these guys are supposed to be critic and most of the time they sound like a gamefaq user

after twilight princess i'll be surprised if this game doesn't feature a boring ass hour long intro where link doesn't have to herd some bird or send some mail but if it does,trust me that no review will make mention of it

If you mostly prefer Japanese games, I can't understand anybody who is anything BUT apathetic towards games. This gen destroyed what little love I had for the industry after the death of the DC.

- you can drop thorn plant bombs onto enemies or into cups to activate mechinisms
- Earth Realm is divided into three main parts
- these are not connected areas, but separate parts of the map
- visit Bamboo Island to break the record in bamboo slashing
- deliver hot soup to a swordmaster in a race against the clock
- travel across the whole world looking for "Jewels of Compassion" (crystallized human gratitude) to help a demon with his transformation into a human
- after about 15 hours, all three areas should be cleared
- That's when the plot takes a serious twist that isn't revealed
- second half of the game has you looking for three "Divine Flames" to forge your sword
- explore a second, previously unreachable area in each of the three main areas, thanks to the harp
- this also gives you access to a test in each of the areas
- sneak through a location like in Phantom Hourglass
- collect tears in the soul jar
- complete the test to grab a scale of the water dragon, whichgives you access to the new part of the area
- this allows you to visit Lake Floria in the Faron Woods
- these tests mean retracting steps through several dungeons
- the divine water dragon Faron will give you access to the 4th temple if you give him a bottle of holy water first
- this involves another trip to the Skyview Temple, where different puzzles and new enemies are waiting for you
- dialog options don't seem to really change what happens in the story
- spot pedestrians in Skyloft or the creatures of the Earth Realm (like the wood dwellers known as the Kikwi) that have information relevant to the plot by the thought bubbles over their heads
- the Tower of Light at Skyloft lets you view the whole town
- the reviewer finished up in about 40 hours

Stealth sections are always the worst parts in all Zeldas, but this one shouldn't be AS terrible since, although you can't fight back, you can at least run away.
