I kind of doubt DW Next stays at 60fps :P  Console DW7 can't even stay at 60fps!   :lol

Playing the DW Next demo a few days back I thought the framerate was pretty high, but it felt like console DW7 meaning it was unstable.

It has a more stable framerate than the console version.   ;)

I thought Tekken on 3DS was 60 fps in 3D? some fighting game is

Yup.  Tekken is 60FPS with 3D on.

there is NO such thing as a 30 fps 3D game on 3DS ... no fuckin' way

Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition is 30FPS with 3D on.

Errrrrrr....

I'm pretty sure there are a few.  3DS has enough horsepower to pull off two images at 30fps for some stuff.  Mario 3DS feels pretty smooth in 3D, could be 30fps; hard to tell.

Mario's almost definitely 30fps locked.

And I'm pretty sure MH3G was 60fps+3D, I think DCharlie even made some vids about it. He could settle this.

Modnation Racers wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't such a mess.  That came out wrong.  The game seems fun but it runs poorly and blurry and seems like an afterthought with how the touch screen controls work.

Wipeout looks really damn nice.  I feel like an old fogey for automatically going to the dual airbrake controls, which only stress the slight awkwardness of using the x button with my thumb half on the analog stick.

Super Stardust seems fun, even with its weird touch gimmicks.

i believe the parallax barrier display is 60 hz and does not use a combined frame buffer, so therefore 60 fps + 3d is impossible? battle scenes in tales of the abyss -- the best 3ds game, by the by -- drop from a rock solid 60 to 30 when the slider is engaged

I hate to break it to you, but the DS version of Abyss is 30fps battles whether the slider is on or off.

It's the only advantage the PS2 version has over it, 60fps battles.  3DS wins by far in load times and image quality/graphics seem about equal.  Content is identical.  If I ever replayed Abyss I'd suck it up and play it on the 3DS for the shorter loads.

well, there's ALSO 640x480 versus 400x240

can you? the way they worked is by dragging a cursor on the screen.  I get it's just a random location with a button.

Gravity Daze demo - very cool tutorial.  Trailer for full game looks a lot better.
Welcome Park - Number and Skate mini-games are fun, the photo face thing drove me CRAZY but I wanted that damn silver
Little Deviants - The rolling game is total shite and just illustrates how the rear touch pad is terrible for using as a touch screen.  The only reason I don't think the rear touch pad was a pad idea in general for the hardware is if it's used simply to replace L2/R2 functions with left/right side taps, I'm ok with that and that is useful.  But using it for moving touching BLINDLY is fucking stupid - real talk.

Ok, done trying out everything I wanted to try until I change back to my US account to check out Tales from a Blob and US demos.  Time to get back to Uncharted until I finish it.

Sumioni is pretty cool.  Nice touch screen use.  Buying this one.

Motorstorm RC is pretty cool.  Driving physics are weird because they're RC cars.  Has a similar ghost system to SSX which is nice.

Tales of whatever R. I keep the brightness at the middle and this shit is still burning my eyes with color.  Clean looking and simple.  Battle system seems alright.  Will get if it ever comes over.

Ragnarok Odyssey.  Wish this would come to North America.  Feels PSO-ish, nice looking, good controls and no real gimmicky crap.

Yeah I thought Ragnorak Odyssey demo was solid.  But then again it seems like a grindy MMO type and would probably get bored of it.

I really didn't like Sumo oni demo.  Too much touch screen using.  Okami did it better.

it depends on how it pans out (regarding sumo oni).  the stages were straight forward action while this control scheme, similar to Kirby Canvas, is better for more puzzle-y scenarios.  there were points where I got the sense that it would get better.  and I liked how all the functions could be performed on the touch screen and d-pad, meaning you don't need to touch the face buttons.

sort of agree with RO, but it usually takes a while for me to get to that bored stage and that time alone might be worth it, probably 10 to 20 hours.

Gravity Daze demo is incredible.  I wish this was out sooner in north america.

although playing gravity daze made me notice some weirdness when a single color is present.  I noticed it in black loading screens too.  there's randomly placed duller black lines and such around the screen.  I couldn't notice it even when trying to look for in other games with more realistic or varied colors.

Made it up to Chapter 18 in Uncharted.  Maybe around 5-6 hours in now and just finishing up the 2nd major location.  When the game is hitting its highs, it's definitely more fun than Uncharted 3.  There was a greaaat action sequence in Chapter 17 that was so much fun and now that I've mastered the controls the combat is >>> U3 with headshots and melee and stealth kills everywhere.  Then I reached this stupid turret gun dodging sequence where the camera/controls fight against you and you die in 2 seconds and I'm like "why does every Uncharted game have to have a couple of frustratingly broken sequences.  For shame".  However, other than that 5 min annoying part, the game has been quite good for a while.

Is there any easier way to get screenshots off your Vita than install the content manager on your PC?  I don't really want to do that yet but I've taken some nice Uncharted screenshots that would be good to get on my PC.

Also I kept using the AK47 because I was waiting to get the "get X kills with Y weapon" trophy for it before focusing on other weapons.  Then I look at the trophy list and there IS NO TROPHY FOR THE AK47  :maf  Same with the .45 Defender.  So basically, never use the default gun loadout, ever.

Yeah I thought Ragnorak Odyssey demo was solid.

need to go back to it - so far, i'm bored and it just makes me want a monster Hunter with good graphics for a change.

That's because slashing at orcs over and over is boring :P

It's just that the visuals, controls, music, feel of slashing, number of attacks is pretty nice for a launch-era title.  If they took the basic engine and made a traditional arpg I'd be on board with it.  As an MMO grind-a-thon?  No thanks.

I own the Michael Jackson game because when I downloaded all the demos and ubisoft or sony fuked up and put the full game up as the demo.

It's samba de amigo with swiping.  It's weird.  Most of a song is just Michael dancing in the middle of the screen and randomly a CG rendition of the music video plays.  I only played Smooth Criminal and it cuts to a CG Michael crushing a pool ball.  At random points it asks you to free style by literally spamming both touch screens and waggling it around.  Weird ass game.

the back touch stuff in Fifa would work if there was a shoot button associated with it.  it just keeps firing into the corners because my finger glanced the touch pad.

tekken 3ds is NOT 60 fps in 3d mode, that's for sure

 ???

It is definitely 60FPS in 3D mode.  I have the game and can confirm it.  I also agree with this review:

http://www.gamesradar.com/tekken-3d-prime-edition-review/
Quote
Tekken 3D's big headline feature is its ability to maintain 60 frames per second with or without the 3D effect enabled, and sure enough, it rings true: pushing up the slider at any time results in zero frame loss, unlike in Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition and Dead or Alive: Dimensions. It's the first time a fighting game has been able to run at full rate in 3D without degradation, but that said, it was hard to focus on the fighters with 3D at full blast. Our eyes kept pulling towards the backgrounds instead, but with the slider set halfway, the illusion significantly improved.

The game hurts my eyes when 3D is on.  3D is also disabled completely when playing online.

Not sure.  I think what people were saying is old downloads of it worked while newer ones did not.  It's confusing since some games can only be transferred through the PS3 (or content manager+media go on PC, I'm guessing).

Sony mentioned that other games would work in the future.  But it's sony, so...

Also Sony needs to do a USEFUL system update by improving the screenshot feature to not make horribly compressed ugly looking shots.  It's doing them no favor when people are spamming shots that look far worse than the actual games do.  You'd think Sony would want to make their system look good.

But as usual, Sony never has any idea what they are doing.  They make great hardware and get great games, but the software engineers are  :-\

yeah, the interface is confusing.  some things I figured out just by accident.  you can mute the system by holding down both volume buttons.  holding the home button brings up a quick action screen to adjust brightness and other stuff without opening up the settings app.

the way the content manager works makes sony look crazy paranoid.  everything is done on the vita itself.  the PC app isn't a manager like media go for psp was, it's more like a driver that allows the vita to a folder on your computer for specific stuff.  you can't drag and drop and use it like an external drive.

like you said, the hardware is incredible.  and this is early firmware and can be improved.  the original PS3 and 360 were bad too (and PSP, 3DS, Wii, iPhone, etc.)

the way the content manager works makes sony look crazy paranoid.  everything is done on the vita itself.  the PC app isn't a manager like media go for psp was, it's more like a driver that allows the vita to a folder on your computer for specific stuff.  you can't drag and drop and use it like an external drive.

Ever since the PSP situation, they've been REALLY paranoid about any possible hacking/pirating on their systems hence the removal of OTHER-OS and sueing Geohot and Content Manager and stuff.  It's kind of understandable since they probably think the PSP piracy killed the entire system in the west and that was a billion dollar investment for Sony.  The last system where pirating was as bad as the PSP was the Dreamcast, and we all saw how that turned out for Sega.

Honestly I'm surprised they haven't gone lockdown MS/Nintendo crazy, with region-locking and NO connecting to PC at all.  Good for the consumer, but if people hack the Vita through the PC connection/content manager, I'd expect PS4 to be a total lockdown anti-consumer piece of hardware.  The original intent for PSP and PS3 were to be extremely open environments that allow people to use them as they would a PC.  The piracy is what turned Sony away from that midway and it's ramifications are still being felt.

I'm beginning to think 8 gigs is too little.

for some reason Killzone Liberation is listed as a game that can be transferred from my PS3 but it keeps getting an error.

nvm.  that's weird.  it took four attempts before it finally let me  >:(

I bought a 4GB for now, but I'll probably just go balls out and buy a 32GB as soon as I have some more money.
