Tried the Lord of Apocalypse demo.  Seemed decent enough ARPG x MH game.  Didn't like that it doesn't show the enemy health though.  Had no idea if I was even playing right against the first boss.

OMG, why are all the Himusona games $40 on PSN? They're $20 at Gamstop in the ginormous Championship Edition boxes. I hope Atlus gets raped to death in the face.

Atlus is terrrrrible.  Yesterday I was browsing the shop for games I wanted but never got around to.  Kenka Bancho is still $40 after two or three years.  Fuckin Kenka Bancho.  You probably didn't even know it was a thing.  Namco is awful too.  Sega...I think Valkyria 2 is $40, bu t they do sales so it ain't that bad.   Xseed :bow2 Square-Enix :bow2  Capcom :bow2

PSN needs to look at iOS or Steam and how it manages to sell old games no one wants.  Regularly have sales, drop prices, and all that business.  I get why they'd want people buying PSP games during launch fever, but ideally PSP games would all drop to $20 max.  That's the norm for Sony and some other publishers.  And more old games need to be added like Gurumin and Birth By Sleep and Gitaroo Man and metal gear acid.

I tried remote play and it's still really bad.  I don't know why I expected it to be better.  I was literally a few feet from my PS3 and it was ugly and laggy.

I'm pretty excited to see how the Wii U handles it.  At least from video it looks instant and that's pretty cool.

The last 1/3rd of Uncharted.

The last 1/3rd of Unchaaaarted.

Man, this is good!  I think I'm at the final chapter or two right now and the last 3-4 hours (everything from Chapter 20ish on) have just been how awesome/so awesome.  I knew I could trust Bend after what they did with Resistance Retribution.  The last 1/3rd of Uncharted GA is better designed and more fun than U1/U3.  Too bad the first and second 1/3rd are just ok->good.  Bend/Ready at Dawn are awesome devs at taking other people's stuff and making games better than the source material.  I really hope Bend goes on to make another Vita Uncharted.  The only things that keep this one from being up there with Uncharted 2 are lack of spectacular set pieces, lack of varied locales, too many touch gimmicks, and lack of good support characters/villains.  All 4 can be easily remedied in a sequel.

The last 1/3rd just has great great pacing, and the combat scenarios are ridiculously fun.  Stealth works, vertical combat works, tons of weapons, enemies are fair.  Good dialogue/story as you play, good fake platforming/exploration that looks gorgeous and has lots of hidden areas.  Great music.

At first I was kind of iffy on if I wanted to do an Uncharted series replay this summer after U3 left me with a sour taste and U:GA started out kind of Portable Ops-ish.  But it's been a lot of fun and the game has decent replay value like the other ones with all the trophies and collectibles.  Think I will do Uncharted 1-3/GA playthrough in the summer.

Which reminds me, it would be cool if Ready at Dawn did another GoW portable, this time on Vita.  The art design and set pieces were incredible for a portable in Ghost of Sparta.  Would love to see what painting-like environments they can pump out on Vita.

Just finished it.  Really great game.  The music, which is by a different guy, is just excellent.  When you get to the end of the game and the HERO MUSIC starts playing and combat ramps up in amazing looking locations and you go into EPIC MODE it's just very satisfying.  When Uncharted games hit the notes right they're like watching great summer action flicks/Indiana Jones movies.

The end locations are freaking incredible looking.  I probably shouldn't have been so down on the game's visuals, but then maybe they shouldn't have saved all their GOOD GRAPHICS for the last 4-5 hours of a 12 hour game.  The end 30-40% of the game is just one stunning location after the next and the very end locations honestly look on par with Uncharted 1 PS3.  Very, very impressive and great art design.  Story was alright, wasn't as bad as U3 where it made no sense, not great either.  The villains are kind of one note and lack a bit of a punch as to caring about where they're coming from.  Support cast is solid, though no one as interesting or good as Chloe or Cutter or U3 Sully.

Combat was very solid throughout!  I only died over and over on one or two checkpoints near the end but after a few retries I figured out where the good weapons were and got through them.  Nothing like U3's bullshitness.  Once you get the hang of the aiming, all the weapons felt good.  I always like getting the "30/50/70 kill" trophies with each weapon.  Gives me a reason to keep switching it up and use them all.

Some neat climbing bits throughout.  Nice vistas and a lot of "No, no, noooo"

Overall, I wouldn't put it anywhere near Uncharted 2 in quality, but I'd put it slightly above U1 & U3 which I feel are about equal (U3 kills U1 in presentation and locations, but the combat is just terrible and frustrating).  The first half of GA is training mode and it seemed like Bend was trying to test out different things (Chase level!  Sniper level!  Climbing level!).  But the 2nd half really comes together where everything just gels and it feels like a real console Uncharted game as is just as satisfying if not more.

If I hadn't played Saints Row 3 this year, it'd probably be the best of the 9 or so games I've finished in 2012 so far.  But SR3 was better.  Still, best game I've finished this month!

At the end of the day if I had played this on my PS3 it probably would have been just as good or better.  Being on a portable adds nothing, and it's really just a console Uncharted.  However if it was on PS3 they wouldn't have made it because publishers are hesitant to put out yearly games in a franchise unless it's called Assasin's Creed or CoD.  So being on a portable gives them an excuse to pump out yearly Uncharted and God of War games and since I enjoy both franchises, I am ok with that!

Great first Vita experience.  Looking forward to playing more Vita games after I clear some other backlog.

Trails in the Sky is a huge game = VALUE

I BOUGHT TRAILS IN THE SKY BASED ON THIS RECOMMENDATION

I didn't care for Trails a whole lot, but that's probably because of everyone hyping it like the second coming. Slow pacing, heavy emphasis on the  :piss Bracer Guild sidequests  :piss2 , somewhat boring battle system that could and should be way faster than it is, etc. Still, some of the shit at the end was fantastic.

Looks like the sequels fix some of these issues, but I can't read moon so who cares.

At least XSEED has the right idea with pricing unlike Atlus. $40 across the fuckin' board.

Almost a year after Nintendo’s 3DS launch (week 12, 2011) and we welcome Sony’s Vita hand-held, available in Wi-Fi and 3G versions (79% of Vita sales in week 1 were for the Wi-Fi version).

There are 23 Vita launch titles at retail (compared to 16 for 3DS week 1), but 2 key Vita titles account for 50% of sales units and lie at No1 & No2 on the All Formats Chart. Sony’s Vita ‘Uncharted: Golden Abyss’ is the new No1 (31% of week 1 Vita sales) and EA’s Vita ‘FIFA Football’ is the new No2 (18% of Vita sales).

In comparison, the week 1 No1 on 3DS ‘Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition’ accounted for 15% of 3DS week 1 software sales. Last week’s No1, THQ’s ‘UFC Undisputed 3’ drops to No3 (-53%) and Ubisoft’s ‘Rayman Origins’ climbs 31 places to No5 (+197%), powered by a new Vita version, No4 on the Vita Top 20.

Vita already succedding. High attach rate than 3DS too :)

Is there a credible list of future Vita releases?  The hardware looks great but the current lineup is not good enough for me to jump onboard at the current price (saving up for 2 of Nvidia's next top-end GPUs).

My instincts tell me that, like the PSP,  the Vita will mostly consist of mediocre IPs and ports that are inferior to the console versions.

I thought Sony wasn't making any more Resistance games or was that just Insomniac?  One would think that Sony would stop pumping money into a franchise that's never gonna be big time but Sony is gonna be Sony.

Wow, Katamari was shit!  Watching the credit roll now after 1 hour, 15 mins gametime.

There's maybe 15 stages?  And most of them take place in the same area.  There's only like 1 city and the final GIANT stage is ridiculously small compared to every other Katamari.  The worst offender is that there's barely any objects to roll up!  Not only does it remove all the smaller objects when you grow so the place always feels really empty (and makes the game harder), but there's crazy slowdown once you get big and see a lot of objects.

The core gameplay is good as usual, and the music is soooo good as usual.  But this game has like...no content and the graphics are really really half-assed.  SCAMCO STRIKES AGAIN.  I dunno if it has less or more content than Ridge Racer Vita, but yeaaaaah.

At least they're selling it for $30 or less.  But yeah, total joke.  Worst Katamari I've played, even worse than the PSP game that makes your thumbs bleed.

otoh, you do unlock Katamari Drive mode of all the stages and Drive fricking awesome as it was in forever (it's basically Katamari with everything sped up 10x so you SPEED around and it's crazy fun).  Still doesn't make up for the lack of content at all.

It's not like Katamari games are especially long.  First run straight through usually takes like 4-5 hours.  Then you can grind out the collection, improve your scores.  But that's still 4-5x as long as this one!  :(

is the psp katamari on the psn store?  wonder how the second stick mapping works out for it?

Not sure if it's on there.  Would probably work better, for sure.  I vaguely remember the PSP game, but I remember it being fun and having some love put into it despite the controls being a mess.

is the psp katamari on the psn store?  wonder how the second stick mapping works out for it?

I don't know if it would.  the psp used the d-pad and buttons for controls and the extra actions (boosting and stuff).  I can't remember if the analog stick did anything in that game.

Too many PSP games can't work with a second stick because of the "creative" ways developers got around the second stick problem.  Like, Ratchet on PSP uses L/R for camera, d-pad for movement with strafing, and analog sick for 3D movement.  It worked well enough on the PSP.  Use the analog stick with platforming or just moving around, and during combat you switched to the d-pad.  You can't really map that to work with the Vita's second stick.  To feel like a PS3 ratchet game, it would mean L/R on the right stick, X on L and Circle on R.

The other minor minor issue is the select button on the vita not as easily accessible as on the PSPs.  PSP devs were so starved for inputs that important actions were placed on the select button.  PSP Go was smartly designed to make the select button an easier reach from the face buttons.  PSP games were weird.

Resistance Retribution wasn't HALF bad, and now they have true dual analog so they'll wanna do that shit. Screens look ok. I always get Retribution mixed up with Killzone Liberation PSP game which is the best Killzone game.

I liked Retribution a lot.  If not for Resistance 1's multiplayer it would probably be the best Resistance game I played (high honor, although Resistance 3 is supposed to be good).  Resistance on Vita looks really bad.

Bend made some of the only good PSP shooters.  Hoping they made another syphon filter for vita and not The Last of Us 0.5.

Dissidia on Vita is $30 :'(

I'm not sure if I can justify that price.

I'm still pissed about missing out on the free codes that SE marketer was distributing the other day. I was right there, both times, on crapper doing my business, with no means of redeeming codes. It was one of the worst shits I've ever taken.
