persona team did catherine, right? I haven't played that yet and wouldn't mind a Vita port.

falcom could announce other easier titles, I guess.  Ys Origins, Xanadu, a proper Ys 6.  Those would just be ports of its PC games.

I'm excited for the announcements, but man we've come a long way if these would be considered the major announcements that will single handedly "SAVE THE VITA FROM EMINENT DOOM."

They've historically sold from really well to decently on an already popular platform. But they don't strike me as IPs that would PULL a sinking ship into popularity :P

Sales talk and numbers aside, fuck yeah I wannum.

Frankly I'm more excited about improved PSP compatibility, PSX support, and any hints of future OS updates. I hope the promised "new services" include some of those.

So I bought the Vita Trigger Grips yesterday, even though I figured they'd probably be some cheap plastic garbage that I'd immediately regret buying, and.....they're surprisingly good. They don't add much weight or size to the system, but they feel pretty good, it makes the whole system fit better in my hand. The L and R triggers are really stiff, but they're still better than having them directly on top of the system. Also, it does make the system wider so you have to stretch a little bit farther to reach the touchscreen, but it hasn't been a major problem.

Giving Vita the utmost benefit of the doubt (aka, this will not happen).  If it got new mainline entries in those franchises (Phantasy Star Portable 3, Persona 5/SMT4, new SRW, new Zero no Kiseki), that pretty much would save the system in Japan for at least 2012-2013.  Besides Final Fantasy/Dragon Quest/Monster Hunter, those are pretty much the next "biggest 3rd party game franchises" in Japan with 200-500k sellers each.  Throw in a new musou game and Yakuza 5 and you have everything 3rd party that matters outside the above 3 series.

But considering how PSP was port/remake/spinoff city for years until the DS/X360/Wii had died and it became the main viable system other than the PS3 and started getting mainline entries....Vita will not be getting anything mainline from the major devs for a few years, and definitely not right now with a userbase of 500k.

I was interested in that before the vita came out.  I use the hori wheel grip for the 3DS because it's a bit uncomfortable on its own.  Usually comfort is sacrificed for portability.  But the vita is comfortable to use, probably because it has rounded edges and is already quite large.

From a GAFfer on Unit 13:

Quote
The cartridge I reviewed from locked up my Vita several times, and deleted Virtua Tennis 4 and my save.  I had to boot the Vita in the service mode and rebuild the database.

Wut, Show has always been known as the best looking MLB game.  Did some other series leapfrog it in the last two years?

it was plugged in when I left it, had the orange charging light on and all.  when I went back there was no light, but it was plugged in.  I didn't hit the sleep button either.

I usually download games on my PS3, but I didn't want to stop the infamous fob download.

Strangely enough, it doesn't download when put into hard sleep mode (pressing the sleep button) but does when it goes into soft sleep mode (idle for x minutes). It's weird, stupid and should be fixed. But for now, I've set auto-sleep to 1 minute.

I've no idea if it's the same when it's being charged. Ugh, they really need to update their power saving options and give more control and explanations.

I downloaded ME3 stuff at like 2+ megs a second.  PSN was saying ONE THOUSAND HOURS for 650 megs.

Infamous 2 FOB was saying a week, but pausing and resuming made it go faster.
