You can download the free game on the PS3. It's titled "Motorstorm RC PS Vita brought to you by Scion" under the Vita section.

The original priced download, which bundles the PS3 and Vita version, is just called Motorstorm RC and it's found in both the PS3 and Vita sections, iirc.

So yeah, everyone should be able to download the free version.

That's the game that's gonna sell me on a Vita... I hope it's based off the PCE-CD Ys IV (Dawn of Ys) and not SFC (Mask of the Sun). Mask of the Sun was ehhh but Dawn of Ys was fantastic!

Ys is probably still pretty far off.  Will be surprised if we see it before fall.  Looked very early in the reveal.

I'd be more excited about Zero no Kiseki full voice edition if I wasn't 2 games behind :|

Is it normal for something shipped (USPS, first class, lol) to be held in one location for almost 40 hours, or should I do something about it?

We're only a few hours from passing the "expected delivery date" and this thing still has ways to go. When they shipped the Vita itself I got a notification every couple of hours and it was actually delivered an entire day before the expected date :( :maf I need that 32Giger card nao :'(

Ha, I'm actively looking for races where you're ranking high and trying to beat you, it's fun. But yeah, I hate overtake races, I keep rear-ending other cars and getting stuck, thus wasting precious time.

You should add GAF's "orioto," he had the game for a while and he's been creaming my ass (:nsfw) by up to 5+ seconds. He's crazy good. OR, I'm still crazy bad at this.

my vita experience thus far:

"cannot connect to the access point"

reboot router, modem

"cannot connect to the access point"

reboot router, modem (again)

finally connect, although it appears to drop signal intermittently

"you must perform a system update to log into the playstation network"

fine

slowass download

install update

reboot vita

"cannot connect to the access point"

you have got to be shitting me

finally connect, although it appears to drop signal intermittently

try to log in

"the system is currently undergoing maintenance"

...

i have had this thing one hour and it's already the worst experience i have ever had with a piece of electronics

even that piece of shit android ereader thing i bought that time maintains a fucking wireless connection

i knew this was going to happen:

i am about to do something i may regret this week.

I can share my own experience with the initial setup, but it would be inappropriate considering what you went through, Eel.

However, I will say that the OS has indeed its fair share of bugs. It locked up at least 2-3 times since I bought it, but thankfully none them happened mid-game. I think Sony even admitted to some of the issues and stated that it's being looked into/fixed.

It feels like an incomplete POS. Someone mentioned Sony promising improvements, as their original objective was to optimize it enough to run alongside games (right now it prompts you to close your backgrounded game), but I won't believe it until I see it. Even my 3 y/o 3GS renders websites better and more smoothly.

what is the Vita's excuse for not running Flash, btw?

Adobe ceasing mobile Flash development, if Sony is to be believed. "We're still negotiating with Adobe" was the last thing we heard about the subject.

I'm in absolute agreement with Prole when he said that there certain aspects of the OS are reminiscent of janky early Android devices, even though it's supposedly "not based on Android." That's very apparent in the browser. My impression of the OS is that it's generally great, but with a few rough spots and varying degrees of polish and optimization. Sometimes it feels like a Frankenstein put together by several uncoordinating teams.
