I like it a lot, best handheld hardware ever, but their E3 presentation will determine whether or not I slap it on Craigslist and put the money towards an iPad 3

I already dislike the immediate trending towards nickel-and-dime DLC (seriously, scrolling through the vast lists of .99 DLC on the Vita PSN store should trigger a "go fuck yourself" sound bite), F2P weirdness, and the online passes, so if they're not out there shaking it like the Solid Gold Dancers and waving around upcoming game boxes then fuck it.

Same here.

I totally jumped on the bandwagon, and I'm loving the hardware, and recognize the potential OS upgrades and how far the overall system can be pushed. But I don't see a better commitment from Sony in the next couple of months (and really, there's almost none so far), I'm selling it as soon as I clear out my launch titles and PSP RPG backlog, then putting the money towards a new phone or tablet.

I'm not sure what you guys expect from Sony. Pretty much all of their internal studios are working on games right now for PS3/Vita/PS4. They've just got to announce them. I can see Media Molecule's new IP (which is supposedly on both Vita and PS3) being unveiled at either E3, or Gamescom. SCEJ's unveiling Soul Sacrifice next month (though that likely won't be made by a 100% internal team), and well SCEA sucks.

I expect taking initiatives and spreading moneyhats, instead of wasting millions on games that barely do bank. All whilst Nintendo keeps eating their lunch, as far as JP games go.

Nothing their internal studios have produced has interested me beside the first LBP and U2.

I might miss a couple of Falcom titles, but that's about it.

As far as JP games I'm not sure what SCEJ could money hat that isn't already on 3DS in some form. I guess, Yakuza, Gundam Vs., Tales of the World, and God Eater?

Also, Gravity Rush am crai  :'(

I hope Gravity Rush sells well in the west, but in my heart I know it won't. :( SCEA can't sell SCEJ's games. Then again, SCEJ has a hard time selling SCEJ's games.

That's because SCEJ makes weird ass quirky niche games with no selling power at all.

Like Tokyo Jungle!  That game will sell 500 copies.

SCEJ makes quirky games with the hope that they these unique experiences strike a chord with people. They had huge success stories with that strategy in the past with a couple of those Net Yaroze games they published, and of course Parappa. The problem is the PSP and PS3 aren't the PS1 and PS2, and outside of like Demon's Souls and maybe Patapon and Badman this strategy hasn't been hugely successful for SCEJ recently. That said, I'd rather have the likes of Tokyo Jungle over another shooter from SCEE and SCEA any day. Speaking of which, I have the feeling that could be a sleeper hit. It won't sell huge numbers or anything, but I feel it could be the most successful PlayStation C.A.M.P. title yet (which isn't a hard bar to break).

I want assurance that after the end of the year, they're not going to pretend it doesn't exist anymore and focus all attention on the PS4. I already know there are a few interesting games for the latter half of 2012, enough to keep it around until the holidays, but if I get the sense that not much else is on the horizon, there's not much point to having it in a desk drawer "just in case."

I do like the idea of C.A.M.P. in that it gives gamers cool games.  But financially it doesn't seem to help Sony.

Maybe not immediately, but discovering talent and building a relationship with them could provide usefulness in the future. And besides, given who's developing Tokyo Jungle I doubt it's rivaling Gravity Rush or Hot Shots Golf in terms of budget.

And yeah, I'm pretty heart broken towards Patchwork Heroes' performance.

Nope, it's still fucking not. Honestly, the one ONE damn game I was remotely going to play with any longtime certitude was D3. It's as if Sony are a megalithic corporate behemoth, with a multitude of besuited business heads, more interested in oneupmanship than taking the brand forward.

Patchwork Heroes is probably the most fun "budget" game concept I played on psp.  It doesn't really have depth to last beyond a few hour game, but the concept of a score based puzzle game where you saw giant airships apart as they fly was very awesome.  Hope those guys make another game.

And yeah, I see what you're saying.  Even if all these "pick up devs off the street and pay them to make a game" titles are niche and don't sell much.  If they make good games it suddenly adds another quality team to Sony's 1st party lineup and down the road building up a bunch of teams like that could be really really helpful.

Like you know, if the Patchwork Hero guys were busy making a Vita title right now.

Patchwork Heroes was made by Acquire. Acquire has been involved with these Vita games so far:

- Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen
- Sumioni: Demon Arts
- Orgarhythm
- Badman Calendar*

*= I don't actually know if Acquire is involved with this, but they made all of the PSP Holy Invasion of Privacy Badman/My Lord/No Heroes Allowed games with Sony.

Comparatively Acquire has made 1 3DS game, and it is a port of a PSP game... Acquire was recently purchased by Gungho, who is also a supporter of Vita via GameArts:

- Ragnarok Oddessy
- Dokuro
- Untitled Team Gajet Project

Compared to a grand total of 0 3DS games.

Hmmm... Acquire is a long running medium size developer.  But Patchwork Heroes was a C.A.M.P. game.  I thought C.A.M.P. games were for unestablished developers?  Not sure about the details.

From what I know about C.A.M.P. the idea is that indies pitch Sony a project and they work with one of their partners to make it happen. Cripsy's is the home for Tokyo Jungle, where as Acquire was the home to Patchwork Heroes. I don't actually know who pitched those games so I can't tell you if they're with Sony or those studios.

But my point is that Acquire isn't indie in the slightest (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acquire_%28game_developer%29)  They've made the Tenchu games and Way of the Samurai games for the last decade along with a bunch of other stuff.

I think you misunderstood me. I do not mean Acquire is the indie, but rather an indie (maybe a single person or two) pitched the game to Sony, and then they partner up that indie with an established crew like Acquire, or even Crispy's. I cannot read Japanese so someone may be better able to make sense of the C.A.M.P. program based on their website.

I do know Grasshopper Manufacture is doing a similar program with game design students across Japan for Vita games too.

acquire and game arts, now those are developers i think of when i'm listing sales hits

Because we were talking about sales hits?

Though, to be fair GameArts' Ragnarok Vita game is actually one of the best selling Vita games in Japan. But that obviously isn't saying much.

Vita might pick up in June for a bit with Gundam, Persona, some other stuff.  But by August they're going to be back to sub-10k again and now whatever they announce for the August-Oct season is going to be hit hard by NSMB2 topping the charts every week and bumping 3DS sales.  2012 is looking pretty dire for Vita.  I think their one hope is to use 2012 to announce a bunch of COOL GAMES for 2013 and then roll them out on a consistent basis for the year to allow Vita to recover.

You know, I hope this at least means Sony gets the PS4 out day to day with the X720.  They were a year late with the PS3 and got smoked by the X360 and now they came in a year late with the Vita and got smoked by the 3DS.  You think it would make them catch on that they can't always be playing catch up to someone else's install base that was built in their absence.

Eh what? Its a fighting game by Namco and has capcom in it.  I see no other similarities.  The ingame graphics are quite ugly(thoguth they were sprites at first).  It seems to have more in common with MvC3 than the other game from the youtube vids of it.  Also the Hp bar seems to be at the bottom 0_o.  It also has nubers popping when you do damage.  It looks genuinely unique to me.  I coudl be shit but it looks nothign like that game you mentioned.

Both are SRPGs with 2vs.2 battles and neither are fighters or play like fighters. They share similarities both inside and outside of battles. Banpretso is the developer this time instead of Monolith, but the direction is definitely there.

I'm being annoying on purpose.

We know. This coupled with your opinions is maybe why people don't take you as seriously as you'd like? Also, why would any sensible person buy a 3DS now with E3 right around the corner? Do you really think the CIRCLE PAD PRO is their long-term solution? Assuming there is no price drop announced to clear out the shit in circulation, of course. Maybe they'll do an ambassador rehash to make things right:lol
