What's this Medarot game Takao keeps bringing up in almost every 3DS thread? Is it really good or are we just trying to find an excuse pout?

Doesn't exist AFAIK, might be vaporware.

Earlier in the year the developer was looking at hiring more staff solely for Medarot. The official blog hasn't done a "This Medarot project has been canceled we are sorry to all the fans, please buy our next game" thing. I imagine the game exists in some form, but just not a form they want to show off. It's just kind of getting annoying since the game was announced at E3 2010 under the name "Versus Robo", and the longer they wait the more likely the market they're attempting to serve will be eaten up by Nintendo, Level-5, and Square-Enix with Pokemon, LBX/Inazuma, and Gyrozetter. The only reason I can see it taking this long is due to this potentially being the first entry in the franchise totally in 3D (graphics, not display).

They're fun RPGs. Not exactly deep, but a lot of fun none the less. I grew up watching the anime series as a kid (localized as "Medabots") and loved the RPG alongside it that Natsume released. And hey, my bitching about a series of 20+ games having 3 entries localized (2 of which were janky spinoffs) is certainly better than the Tales fanbase's regular bitching routine of bitching about games that have already been localized not being localized on their hardware of choice. It astounds me that in 2012 they still want Vesperia PS3, and are crying that Xillia hasn't been announced yet despite Scamco making it very clear that Graces F (which was released weeks ago) needs to sell well to make that happen.

It would be interesting if they announced the next version of the 3DS at E3.  That would simultaneously be the first time Nintendo has announced a handheld revision at an American event *and* the first time Nintendo has announced a handheld revision outside January or October.

a while ago they registered a supermariobros4.com domain,i wonder if that means they are going to show two 2D super mario bros games at e3
maybe that domain was for new super mario bros 2?

Man, that Monkey Ball demo is complete trash.  I think even the DS version might control better.  The analog controls are way too twitchy for the precision needed.

Apologies to Takao, you were right.

I vented, which betrayed my racism.

D3 was downloaded, and now I just worry about how Apple has conditioned the gaming part of my brain (which entails all 4 lobes fact fans!).
I'm so used to using games as a disposable tissue. Games basically mastubate the brain.

I'm kind of debating over whether or not I should buy MGS HD. MGS3 is my fave game of like teh all timez but I know the HD Collection dropped some content (RIP Snake Vs. Monkey) and the value proposition on Vita isn't as good as the console version (3 games for $50 vs. 2 games for $40) even though I already own Peace Walker on PSN.

vita owners, like 3ds owners at this time last year, very closely resemble a hungry looney toons character in that any old piece of crap is starting to look like a walking, talking, delicious steak.

I can't wait until Soul Sacrifice becomes the next "best game ever" like Killzone 2. ::)

Gonna be dozens of GIFs whenever the gameplay trailer hits, mark my words.

There are how many posts on GAF about the 4 screenshots for NSMB2 again?

Edit: Actually reading that thread tells me the reaction isn't all that great, whoops.

even if you're brain-damaged and don't like NSMB Wii, you'd still have to admit a Mario platformer is a hell of a lot closer to being a walking, talking, delicious steak than a modern Monkey Ball game.

Was anyone really all that interested in Monkey Ball for Vita? Bebpo seemed kind of curious... I guess? I posted the earlier "trailer" (more like gravure video)  just out of disbelief that SEGA would use sex to sell Monkey Ball.  :lol I've never actually played a game in that series, and wouldn't bother with the Vita game unless it's cheap and got good reviews since it comes out a few weeks after Gravity Rush, and MGS: HD (which is a questionable purchase for me).

There's definitely launch goggles though. I bought Sumioni and well, I wouldn't regularly have bought Sumioni. I don't even regret buying it that much, it's just not worth $20.

I bet I spent hundreds of hours playing that game.  I had all four songs memorized for years.

I'd love to see a competent revival.  I think it would work well on just about everything from iOS to PSN to 360.

Out of everything they have ever done? It hasnt been too long since they did CT and there was also that MidTown Madness game that covered part of that itch.

I want Burning Rangers 2. Would be a nice handheld or downloadable title.

Well there are only two scenarios:

- "Best game ever," lots of GIFs, then ends up playing like KZ2.
- "Best game ever," lots of GIFs, then ends up playing like Uncharted 2.

Both got almost the same treatment, but only one justified the hype. It all depends on how it looks, who'd developing it, and how hard Sony is pushing it, though.

But I'm sorry if the Sonyfegs are always offending your delicate sensibilities with their crazy talk. Sometime I wish I could castrate ninthings too thanks to the frequency of posting Zelda's demo gifs lately. Nobody is above this, not even a cum guzzler like you.

The game used to lock up my Vita a lot. After the update I thankfully haven't run into any of that.

Edit: Holy shit, there's a third Crazy Taxi game? What platform did that come out on? The Wonderswan?

Edit 2: Oh Xbox, close enough I guess.

I sunk dozens of hours into the first Crazy Taxi, haha.  Even tried to like the second one (the jumping was cool but god the map was awful).  Funny enough, I never even tried the third one.

I actually don't think it needs a revival at all, though.  The first game is pretty much a perfect realization of the concept.

Revival meaning, remake, reboot, sequel channeling the original, whatever. Anything that would let me relive the experience.

And no, the trash XBLA port by Backbone doesn't count without the original soundtrack.

I remember I picked up Crazy Taxi for GameCube on a whim at one of those wholesale outlets. I wanted a new GC game and the cover looked cool, and it was discounted. So I bought it. How would I possibly know it would be one of my favorite GC games ever?

There's more they could do especially with online, and more maps, different additional modes, tweaking how each driver felt, more drivers, etc. There's a lot they could do. But, Sega.

Name calling? Nobody ends up being in this place without guzzling some nectar. I've seen you swallowing Iwata, Reggie, and Miyamoto's load and liking it in the past. Don't lie.

And the GIFs follow every thread discussing the Wii U's specs. So they're being posted. A lot.

No, there isn't.  Online?  The game has no multiplayer and doesn't need it.  More maps?  They tried that, none of them had the charm of the original arcade track.  Different additional modes?  Beyond Crazy Box?  What are they going to do?  Tweaking the drivers?  They did new drivers.

It's a pure, brilliant arcade game.  It doesn't need anything added to it.  It's like Tetris.  There's not a damn thing that has ever been added to Tetris that didn't make it worse.  I don't know why people can't just let awesome shit be awesome shit and instead want to sequel every good idea until it sucks.

Eh? I've loved lots of the additional Tetris modes over the years. The original is always king but that doesn't mean the added modes aren't fun too. And Tetris DS multiplayer was fricking AWESOME. I don't think you know what you're talking about.

Is the PSP port bad?

Well, it's missing the original soundtrack and voices, and the framerate gets very dicey, especially in the CT2 tracks, but I don't think it's *bad*, per se.  It's just not nearly as good as the Dreamcast version.  Granted, no other version is as good as the Dreamcast version.

Wiki tells me the PSP version can use custom soundtracks. I wonder how that would work on Vita? Hmm.

I did not play the sequels or ports, no. But that doesn't prove anything. Those were just poor attempts.

And don't lump me in with them. I understand why Crazy Taxi worked. I don't want the core game messed with too much. Just more content and additional modes. I believe those could be attempted better and succeed where the series failed before.

In a scientific experiment, you fail and fail until you get it right. I love Crazi Taxi too much to just let it fade into the night. But I'm not as scarred and cynical as you.

Eh, I'm a little curious how a self confessed Excitetruck fan can't see how they could add a bunch of mechanical gimmicks to the mix for scoring possibilities.  Tetris has certainly been improved from its original inception, albeit not so much in the core mechanics as much as new modes of play to go along with the basic type a game.  I'm also partial to the fast drop.  Bad thing about new tetris is infinite spin, but certain tetris variations do make it out there with the 'feature' heavily nerfed.

edit: buuuuuuuuuuuutttttttt, I don't have faith sega can make that improvement.  I'm actually kinda bummed that it seems most of their creative force has been heavily bled out since the death of the dreamcast.  Most of their good games these days are outsourced.
