The Vita has officially knocked off the Virtual Boy in Japan, btw.  At its present rate, it'll be celebrating victory over the 3DO by July.

:lol Hail Vita.

I click on this thread about 10 times a day 'cause it is so weirdly active AND THERE ARE STILL NEVER ANY NEW GAMES :fbm

Hope E3 changes that.

I'm getting Mortal Kombat next week, which I think is the first post-U.S. launch game actually worth a damn.  Then Gravity Rush in June.  Maybe Resistance if the multiplayer is good.

I can't help but imagine the world of Vita if instead of having 23 games at launch they had 6 titles, and then released 2-3 new games every month for the rest of the year using the remaining launch window stuff.  I think people and the press would have a very different image of the Vita and the sales might have been a lot healthier.

As gamers, we were all jazzed to have so many launch titles to play, but months later, I've enjoyed a couple and now just have a backlog stack of good launch titles I should get to at this time and have very little worth looking forward to on the system.  Guess what other system had a packed launch full of titles?  The Dreamcast!

Yeah, I don't doubt there's good stuff coming and I think you hit the nail on its head about the software just being too early to show.

For instance, Falcom didn't shy away and showed Ys IV remake early on...and it looked like a psp game and got them tons of flack.  We haven't seen it since and Falcom has gone on record to say it was really early last time they showed it and the graphics have improved greatly since.

I think if everyone showed what they're working on, we'd see a bunch of psp-looking weak graphic titles that are 30-50% complete.  So most people are holding back and waiting to show things until they're getting closer to released and look presentable.  Normally I'd expect this kind of stuff to start appearing around TGS and the holiday season in magazines for early 2013 releases, but I am a little worried that if the sales continue to be dismal, that some (not all) of these games will be canned or ported to the 3DS before they are even revealed.

If it gets popular game franchises and a slight price cut, I'm sure it'll do fine in Japan.  But it definitely needs some popular game franchises.  Hell, even just doing day & date Vita versions of PS3 games would help for some games that people would rather play on the go.

Seriously, it astounds me that there isn't a Vita SKU of Tekken Tag 2 launching. I realize the home ports are no longer beasts, but still Scamco be slackin'. Though, part of me expects a 6 month late port with added costumes and modes for Kazuya and crew.

naa - once you get to the "hard" parts of Monster hunter you need to be able to do things on the fly whilst being able to see what you are doing so using the front touch screen is a no-go - so all you need is the back touch to allow you to scroll through active inventory and go into on field item creation.

They shouldn't make it too easy - i've said it before : A huge part of MH is that you have to become skilled at all these things and multitasking is part of what makes the game fun. Trivialise it too much and i think it'd lose some of the panic moments and , thus, be a worse game.

the game is p hard if ur a bbaddie like me in the beggining :qq

haha, andrex is really bad with people knowing stuff he doesn't know.

to paraphrase what i've said to you before, dcharlie knows this stuff because he has friends in the biz.  if he spills all the stuff they tell him on a forum to impress some random chap he doesn't know, they're not going to be his friends anymore, and then he'll have nothing to do on thursday nights.

Yes yes I've heard it all before. Same with the NPD crap. The billion NPD and <insert company here> ninjas perusing The Bore 24/7 will suddenly pounce on dcharlie if he says anything too specific. Well not even dcharlie, his "friends in the biz." Who apparently know exactly that they're connected to <dcharlie's real name> and that <dcharlie's real name> is actually dcharlie on The Bore. FBI ain't got shit on these guys.

Apparently there's a guidebook on what exactly "specific" means, otherwise they'd have pounced for him being "vague" already. I just don't get it. The Bore isn't IGN. (Well, thank the stars for that eh.)

And dcharlie having connections suddenly gives him every excuse to make up crap.

"Some 3DS games TOTALLY got cancelled and then revived for Vita. You know, because publishers love dropping a cheaper-to-develop-for system with over 17 million sold in order to develop for the equivalent of PS3 hardware currently going over like a wet fart in between Virtual Boy and 3DO. That's TOTALLY logical and not just another of my delusions to prop up my system of choice. Vita games are coming guys! Hundreds of them!! TOO HOT FOR 3DS! Don't sell your Vitas yet! Please! I mean, seriously guys, please? Pleeeaaase? Guys?"

He hasn't flashed his rock hard creds in my face, as far as I know he's just a bigger fanboy on GAF and The Bore than I am. And fanboys tend to make things up.

But I mean, hell, even at the height of my fanboydom, way back in 2006, way before GAF, when I would have sold a PS3 outright, without playing it, if it were given to me, would I never, ever make up some story about devs secretly cancelling PS3 and 360 games and reviving them as Wii projects. Hell I can only think of one time that happened, and it was fairly well known: NiGHTS Journey of Dreams. It's just so contrary to reality I have to call BS, and the burden of proof is on dc to prove he isn't making shit up.

I love it when nintendo fans get all "LOOK AT MY USERBASE!" - it gives me rock hard wood.

I mean userbase is a major factor, but not the deciding one. As a Nintendo fan I've had to learn that the hard way.

But the Vita? The Vita? It'd be more economical making it Windows Phone exclusive. Jeeze.

Unless Sony is ponying serious moneyhats, but they're not in a position to do that, are they?

Here - here's one of them - the info is out there on most of them :

http://ds.ign.com/articles/118/1182859p1.html

There's an Assassin's Creed Vita I don't know about? And it reuses the idea and design of Assassin's Creed 3DS and isn't a completely new project/port?

If it's a port of the new one then that doesn't mean "Assassin's Creed 3DS was scrapped and then revived as Assassin's Creed Vita." That just means AC 3DS was canned, Ubi waited a while, probably got a check from Sony because otherwise why the hell would you do anything for the Vita, and decided hey, we can get AC 3 running on Vita with X amount of cash. Let's do it.

But that isn't what you said happened.

No, I want to get to the bottom of this. You guys jumped on Johnny Nighttrain for waving around "insider info" to bolster his favorite console, I have to grill dcharlie. Apparently you all trust him and you probably have your reasons, but he hasn't done anything to earn my trust.

I don't care if he wants it, but he should be prepared to be called out until I get it. It'd be the same as me going into the Wii U thread and just casually offhandedly mentioning the next Elder Scrolls is Wii U exclusive and also a launch game. Because that's exactly as crazy as "3DS games were scrapped then revived for Vita" sounds to me.

dont forget that dcharlie is best buds with the people at 8-4 and i'm sure they're privy to games their translating and developers. go ahead and edit this out if its too inside nasenall dcharlie:)

Gents - let's have a cup of tea here and not make this is something it's not. I like having Andrex around - he at least adds some other flavour so let's just reel it back in a bit.

In general, I like you.

I think. I haven't really decided yet. But it's looking good right now.

It's just, as Oscar said, it really irks me when people flash around their "insider knowledge." I love it when devs do it, but it annoys me to no end when forum posters do it. Because it's the source of 99% of bunk rumors and I'm just sick of it.

Andrex, it's down to you who you want to trust.  The NPD numbers is something entirely different, they are *extremely* vigilant and this forum is totally open.  NPD knows about it (because they watch GAF like a hawk), and specific numbers posted here aren't exactly guaranteed to stay here.  All it takes is one slip-up and my source gets pinched and then not only am I the shithead but my friend's job is in serious danger.  I guess I could say nothing, not even give vague hints.  Would you prefer that?

Now, as to dcharlie.  You have no reason to trust him, that much is true.  He does go into fantard mode pretty often and when he does, information certainly goes through a dc filter.  But the original information he's putting through his filter?  It's not made up.  This isn't even me just trusting a guy I know on the internet.  I have supped and drank with dcharlie in the presence of industry people, and although I'm super inaka and can't often make it to those things, there is a large group of people (in and around Tokyo) who regularly meet for shooting the shit and having good times, and it includes quite a few names that would bake your biscuit.  Some of them are other posters here on the Bore, even.

Now, again, maybe you think if he can't say everything, then he should say nothing.  Maybe that's the case, I dunno.  But at the very least, you have to understand why he can't say everything.  I know that's ridiculously frustrating and maybe doesn't make sense to you, but if you can't trust dcharlie, then let me vouch for him.  If you can't trust me, then I can't help you out.  But I'm sure you realize I wouldn't vouch for dcharlie falsely trolling Nintendo.  I call him out all the time on it when he's being a derp.

And even without the insider card, as dcharlie pointed out, it's easy to see some 3DS projects got canceled, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some of them surface on Vita.  Of course, if Vita keeps dragging its ass on the carpet, some of them might get bounced back or canned altogether.

Oh I figured, from previous posts and lurking, most of the insiders here have drank together with industry people. Heck I was the one who brought it up to Sho Nuff at PAX --  he didn't even remember he had met you, but I was mostly sure you two had met.

Would it be better to say nothing? Probably not.

Would it be better not to just throw out massive vague console-war-esque hints casually like they're no big deal? Yes.

I guess I thought the internet had changed things and we didn't need to dance around things like this anymore. I mean, come on. This is the age of Wikileaks and Pastebin. So for me what it comes down to is I see a bunch of people tossing out vague hints like they're the shit, when there's perfectly viable means of making the true information available and untraceable, but they don't do that in order to maintain their insider status. What's the point of giving it all away if you can't get all the glory yourself?

Screw that stupid Waifu Cooking sim. Gust should grow some balls and make a game where they aren't pandering to basement dwellers. People tell me their games are supposedly good but I don't buy them due to the "Uguuuu" factor. If they're so good they should at least be able to leverage their perv cred into making a game I wouldn't be afraid to play with in front of other people.

Compile Heart games look gross too, and apparently they make bad games so the people who do buy them are on like LovePlus level with me.

Also, I might be drinking.

Other than Shuhei Yoshida, I have never seen another person use 4Square in my life. I asked him on Twitter once if he's the sole reason there's an app for that. He never responded.  :lol

I actually do use Twitter though. It's an easy way to post up screenshots without having to use Flickr. I can't use Facebook for that though, since for some reason it isn't allowed to boot within games.

Huh, apparently Madden isn't coming to 3ds this year either.

I don't believe there are any retailer listings for the 3DS version. There are for Vita though.

The only sports game I want (besides a new Hot Shots Tennis) is NHL. EA why you hate Vita :(
