I'll probably pick up Rayman Vita.

In other news, the wait for better PSP and Mini compatibility, as well as PS1 support, is starting to piss me off. I've got a shitload of PS+ freebies that are just sitting around.

when is this magical event happening, they're all still full price on my psn

Tuesday. Which should also be the day that PSP compatibility is updated. Pixel Junk Monsters Deluxe becomes PSP compatible on that day, hopefully signaling more to come.

Hopefully Hakuoki is added to the compatibility list so I can get some husbandos. ^__^

I realize my circle of friends is probably a very, very, very rare one in that 5 of us own Vitas, but have anyone of you guys played Paint Park with friends? It's actually a lot of fun though I wish it was a bit more fleshed out (I'd want a guessing game competition) as well, the thing should have an online mode.

Only one the friends I regularly hang out with has a Vita, and he only has Mortal Kombat.  Besides that he wants Gravity Rush.

In comparison to the 3DS, my buddy Originalz has one, but he lives in Japan.  Nobody else gives a shit about either handheld.

I'm about halfway through my launch games now.  So far I'd rank the ones that I've finished:

Uncharted > Hot Shots > Wipeout > Escape Plan > Tales from Space > Katamari

Rest of my Vita backlog is:

Lumines
Super Stardust Delta
999-2
Tales of Innocence R

i tought you didn't like 999 bebpo? why the heck you bought the sequel?

Silent Hill has been delayed till October, probably to tie into Revelation 3D or something since the game is done. Music's cool though:

Apparently Yamaoka was involved with this track? I am not a big SH fan by any means so I haven't really been following the nothingness that has been Konami's marketing campaign for the game.

Vita, why do you exist :(

At least in good news, Nippon Ichi's upcoming big internal projects are 1 game for PS3 and 1 game for Vita.  An all new N1 game at Vita screen res like Zettai Hero Project should be nice.

So right now we have:

-Hatsune Miku
-YsIVr
-N1 original rpg

For the August-December slate.  It's...a start.  If that list keeps building it'll help and I'll have some good games to play on my Vita (not playing Miku though).

You want to know the amazing thing about Resistance: Retribution? It was demoed as playable on Vita last year. John Garvin (head of Sony Bend - the developers) said he'd ask SCEA what the hold up was back in February.

Also, it seems that Ubisoft sale was a lie. Apparently people make up sales. Why someone would look up every piece of Ubisoft content on PSN and then make fake but believable prices is beyond me.

for resistance and Bend's other PSP games, I wouldn't mind if they just re-released them on Vita with true dual analog support.  all the games supported it.  bundle them all for $30 or something.

I wonder if there's any way to get Scamco to lower the prices on their games. Tekken 6 and Soul Calibur are going to be 3 years old this year and are still $40 on PSN.

Just transfer it from your PS3.

It sure feels that way, doesn't it?   :-\  But then at least I'm playing my Vita...the 3DS feels like it has jack for shit new at the moment too.

At least Gravity Rush is next month...

Completely ridiculous when games like Tekken 6 are $20 on XBL.

Japan is just going through a transition phase right now, so there aren't many big games coming anywhere.  It's really evident when you look at the upcoming release list for PS3/3DS/Vita/PSP over then next 3-4 months and it's a wasteland.  You have hidden projects that are companies' first major 3DS/Vita games under wraps, and hidden projects which are companies' first major PS4/X720 games under wraps, and so the current known slates are getting empty.

In a year or two stuff will probably get rolling out consistently again in the land of the rising sun.  2012 is a good year to work on your backlog, which is what I'm doing!

Sly Cooper 4 is now a PS3 and Vita game.  Supposed to come out day and date with ps3 version in September, alleged parity between the versions, and cloud saving cross play transfarring.  Nothing about the costs or how they'll be packaged, together or separate, at $40 or $60.  Pricing situation will probably be a total mess.

Mildly interested in it since last E3.  I liked the Sly games but this isn't Sucker Punch.  It looks alright enough.

I think Sanzaru are the right guys for Sly. Sony didn't pitch them a game like they did with Nihilistic for Resistance: BS, instead Sanzaru bought a PS3 devkit with their own money and put together a pitch for SCEA.

It'll probably be a safe sequel, but since it has been so many years since the last Sly that's fine.

Sometimes more of the same is all that's needed, especially in cases like this where the last game was released in 2005. I don't know why that seems like a controversial opinion. I agree that it'll be a safe sequel, but that doesn't inherently make it bad.

My fear is that it's going to be both tired/safe AND not as well-designed as the previous titles due to Sanzaru's complete inexperience.

I hope I'm wrong, I loved 2/3 of the Sly games, but I already felt the game was looking shaky, and hearing they're splitting their meager talents across two platforms for simultaneous release isn't exactly helping me feel better.

Shouldn't take much effort getting this running on the Vita.  The visuals look like a Japanese PS2 HD game.

It looks alright.  I like the idea of playing as Sly's descendants, who're basically Sly with a specialized power up, unless I'm mistaken.  Yiffer's Creed.

Then again I liked the concept behind Secret Agent Clank before I played that.

Shitty friends were playable in the first game.

really? i don't remember it

if I'm remembering correctly, it was a stupid van driving game.

My fear is that it's going to be both tired/safe AND not as well-designed as the previous titles due to Sanzaru's complete inexperience.

aka the High Impact effect

If High Impact didn't make games based on franchises people cared for their games would be the equivalent of the lower mascot platformers like Ty, and Tak. Not bad games by any means, but no one's going to be remembering those.

I started replaying Maverick Hunter X. Man that game is beautiful on dat OLED. The demo it contains of Powered Up makes me sad since that's as much of the game I'll ever be able to play on Vita. :(

Retro City Rampage is pretty awesome. I played it a while back. Lots of references to things like BTTF, Doctor Who, and other stuff. Gameplay really is like a 2D GTA, and it looks gorgeous on dat oled.

Ha, I honestly can't count how many times I posted a variation of this. It's stupid. "dat OELD" is not even that mind-blowing to begin with, especially if you've used legit smartphones before.

The lack of ghosting is very impressive compared to previous handheld consoles.

The lack of ghosting is great, the colors are great, the contrast is great, the resolution is great. But none of that elevates it to "brain-meltingly awesome" and a "#gamechanger."

"Wait 'til you see these shitty screens it on dat OLED, they'll come to life, promise" is another stupid variation. In the end, it's just a "better" screen, one I've seen many time before. Nothing magical about it.

You're right about it being comparable to the iPhone's screen, but I do think people have a point in saying games look far better on it than what one might think from looking at the highly compressed screenshots.

Edit: I like my Vita too, but I haven't touched it in a month.
